I was only 11, a child, when the horrific , senseless murders at #ecolepolytechnique in #montreal happened. These #women were killed by a #misogynist, just for being women.
I do remember this day, as I was horrified that someone might want to harm me..or worse..because I was #female.
We need to stand up against #genderbasedviolence

The 14 women murdered in 1989 were Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie St-Arneault, Annie Turcotte and Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz.
Thirteen others were injured in the anti-feminist attack perpetrated by Marc Lépine, who took his own life. He had ranted about feminists ruining his life.

Today is Canada's Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. It marks the anniversary of the École Polytechnique tragedy, this day in 1989.
Fourteen young women were killed in class by a young terrorist with an irrational hatred of feminists. Nine of those murdered were in an engineering class; the killer had ordered the men to leave before he started his spree.
