De strijd tegen foie gras in Nederland is pas net begonnen.
Na het succes waarbij inmiddels zo’n 70-100 restaurants foie gras van de kaart hebben gegooid, verschuift onze focus. Niet enkel restaurants zijn een target. Want zolang de groothandel blijft leveren, blijft dierenleed winstgevend.
Daarom richten we ons nu ook op HANOS.
Foie gras is geen delicatesse, het is structureel dierenleed. Dwangvoer, kapotte levers, pure uitbuiting. En dat weet de groothandel ook!
Dat pikken we niet.

The foundational myth of the state is its necessity. It posits itself as the sole entity capable of imposing order upon a chaotic humanity, the neutral arbiter of conflicts, and the guarantor of security. This is a lie. The state is not a neutral arbiter; it is the historical product of propertied classes consolidating their power, a mechanism born to protect accumulation and enforce hierarchy. Its very DNA is coded with domination. Therefore, it cannot be reformed to serve the poor, the marginalized, or the ecosystem. It must be abolished. This is the first, non-negotiable premise of a free society.
We now confront a second, undeniable premise. The planetary system is terminally ill. The project of industrial civilization, built upon the twin engines of state power and capital accumulation, has achieved its logical conclusion: the active destabilization of the biospheric conditions that support complex life. The science is settled. We are not awaiting collapse; we are living within its protracted, uneven, and irreversible unfolding. The choice is no longer between a sustainable future and an unsustainable one. The choice is now about how we conduct ourselves in the face of a terminal diagnosis.
This reality has given rise to a pervasive nihilism, a philosophy that rightly identifies the absurdity of our situation but draws a fatalistic conclusion. It suggests that because the large scale systems are doomed and no cosmic meaning awaits us, all action is futile. This perspective advocates for a posture of acceptance, a "planetary hospice" where the only virtue is to meet the end with clear eyed resignation, free from the "foolishness" of hope or struggle. If the universe is indeed silent and offers us no script, then we are presented with the most radical freedom imaginable. We are unshackled from any predetermined purpose. In this void, we are compelled to become the authors of our own values. The question is not whether meaning exists, but what meaning we will choose to build from the raw materials of our existence and our relationships. To choose inaction and passive acceptance is itself a value choice, one that implicitly sides with the forces of entropy and domination. It is a choice to let the world end on the terms of its abusers.
Anarchism provides the antithesis to this nihilistic acquiescence. It is not a blueprint for a future utopia to be achieved after a revolution. It is a praxis of dignity for the present moment. It is the active, conscious creation of meaning through direct action, mutual aid, and solidarity. When we practice collective care, when we organize to meet our own needs and the needs of our communities outside the logic of state and capital, we are not merely preparing for a new world. After Hurricane Helene, we promised ourselves that we wouldn't go through another disaster without a battery backup for our rooftop solar. Thanks to the folks at Footprint Project, we're on track to install 20kWh of battery capacity for our building this month!
So now want to pay it forward. On Thursday, October 9th, we'll be donating net proceeds from all sales in-store and online to the Feral Crust Infoshop in Davao, Philippines. This longstanding eco-anarchist project is a living experiment based on principles of mutual aid, cooperation and ecology. So buy a book (or two) and the donated sale will help to fund upgrades to Feral Crust's off-grid electrical infrastructure and rainwater harvesting systems!

After Hurricane Helene, we promised ourselves that we wouldn't go through another disaster without a battery backup for our rooftop solar. Thanks to the folks at Footprint Project, we're on track to install 20kWh of battery capacity for our building this month!
So now want to pay it forward. On Thursday, October 9th, we'll be donating net proceeds from all sales in-store and online to the Feral Crust Infoshop in Davao, Philippines. This longstanding eco-anarchist project is a living experiment based on principles of mutual aid, cooperation and ecology. So buy a book (or two) and the donated sale will help to fund upgrades to Feral Crust's off-grid electrical infrastructure and rainwater harvesting systems!

Reclaim the Seeds 2025

We're excited about the upcoming edition of Reclaim the Seeds Amsterdam this March! At its heart, we are a seed fair where seeds are exchanged freely, breaking the chains of corporate control over our food. Beyond that, we hope to strengthen our movement, share knowledge, and reclaim our collective power through workshops, talks, and shared discussions. Seed sovereignty is the foundation for preserving resilient vegetable varieties by enabling more growers to save their own seeds and reducing our dependence on large multinationals.
Yet, as organizers of Reclaim the Seeds Amsterdam, we had a strange feeling when we picked up the thread last fall; genocide and various wars are taking place. Shouldn't we use our time and energy to try to do something about it?
That's why we chose to show color as Reclaim the Seeds Amsterdam. We want nothing to do with fascist regimes and genocide. We stand with Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Congo, and Ukrainians resisting Putin, and we oppose the xenophobic far- right government in the Netherlands. We believe that seed sovereignty and ecological justice cannot be separated from colonialism and capitalism. The oppression of land and people are two sides of the same coin.
What does this mean in practice for the ‘Reclaim the Seeds' festival? The more insecure society becomes, the more important it is to have robust food production close to home. And the more crucial it becomes to come together as a community, collectively practice alternatives to industrial agriculture and build our movement. This is essential because it allows communities to meet their basic needs autonomously, without relying on distant, vulnerable supply chains.
We invite all participants and visitors to come together and brainstorm how we can build a movement that disrupts oppressive systems and creates sustainable, social, and solidarity-based alternatives, starting with seeds. We are certainly ambitious, but the fight against European legislation and agro-multinationals always has been.
