Australia has the coolest and weirdest of fascinating animals. Love echidnas, terrifying the ant populations of our Great Southern Land, and their shuffling movements.
The photo in the comments below of a particularly adorable unit 🥰

  17. Touching ancient idols always comes with an element of risk, especially the fabled mother of monsters. If you're lucky, perhaps they'll only turn you into their new guardian instead of more dire consequences.

  18. @dgar

You did well! 😁 They often get themselves stuck in a corner & it’s pretty hard to move them out of that. Thought I saw its spines flare out defensively when it heard Bronson bark too. Could have been a disaster - you saved the day! 😁

  19. Compilation of Detox Doodles!

These animals are from my 100-day journey to swap scrolling for sketching: joyousjoyness.com/pages/detox-

Of all of these, my favorites are the chickens and frogs!

  20. The local neighbourhood echidna decided to visit my backyard yesterday. They snuffled about an embankment looking for ants. I think that they must have found a few as well. By sitting very still and quiet I was able to get a few close up photos and videos.
I've got a few more but file size is a problem. Can anyone advise some good open source free video editing software?

  21. Took a trip to Lake St Clair, Australia's deepest lake. This guy wasn't bothered by us as they foraged for insects in the fallen tree bark.

  22. Snoopy the echidna gets ready to enter a ball pit at Healesville sanctuary in Victoria, #Australia. Snoopy has marked 40 years at the sanctuary since being rescued in 1985, when she was deemed unsuitable to return to the wild as a youngster. The hardy echidna has been living out her days in the simulated bushland haven, and also enjoying an enrichment ball pit.

  27. Did you know? The short-beaked echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus) is a monotreme, meaning it’s one of the few mammals that lays eggs instead of bearing live young. This species lives for an average of 10 years in the wild, and up to 50 years in captivity. Weighing up to 15.4 lbs (7 kg), this spiky critter can be found in parts of #Australia & New Guinea. It feeds on invertebrates like ants and termites.
