  1. Echeveria secunda (七福神). Looking and growing great after repotting.

Someone had planted a bunch of these underneath the Shinkansen tracks near my house, but then they all got ripped out due to construction. Luckily I "rescued" a tiny pup a while ago—look at it now!

  3. Echeveria tobarensis. One of my favorites. I had a really nice one that I killed last year; now I’ve got this and a backup.

Never gonna give you up… 🎵

  6. Echeveria ‘Ryūrin Renge’ (龍鱗蓮華), a cultivar by famous echeveria grower Orai-san. Mine decided to split into two heads.

  7. I’m going to show a few of my plants at the Cactus & Succulent Exhibition at the Ōfuna Botanical Garden, May 12–17

    fcofuna-kanagawa.jp/events/exh

I submitted three items out of the ? in this thread. Guess which three!

    Here:

    Echeveria ‘Madiba’
    Echeveria ’Tromso’

  8. There was a plant event at the Kōnan near my house. I think I exercised plenty of restraint.

    Mammillaria perezdelarosae
    Echeveria ‘Yukibachi’ (雪蜂)
    Echeveria ‘Momokuma’ (桃くま)
    Tillandsia loliacea

  9. Indoor rack has reached its final form (probably)

I upgraded the middle shelf to 65W Brim Panel As. The top shelf is already 65W, and the bottom shelf has plants like haworthias that don’t like too much light, so it will stay on 45W.

All of the panels stronger than 65W that I’ve seen have the LED driver stuck to the top of the panel, so I wouldn’t be able to fit them in here like this.

    Thus: final form achieved

  10. I bought this yellow oxalis a few years ago and thought it had all died off, but it turns out it’s a bulb plant and it just keeps coming back 🌼

Also note the echeveria hiding underneath 🫣

  11. A container into which I chucked some random stuff. It’s been taken over by this small-leafed crassula that one might mistake for a sedum.

  12. Two more plants that I missed when I did the collages earlier:

    - Dioscorea Elephantipes (another second attempt)
    - Ceropegia Woodii Variegata or Variegated Chain of Hearts (having another attempt at that one too)

  13. This week’s, and some from last week, #PlantMail potted up. It was an epic effort done over two sessions with a break in between and will be my last for a while unless I win lotto without buying a ticket!

    The newbies this week are:

    - Echeveria Madiba Bumps (my 1st on died so this is my last attempt)
    - Echeveria Culibra
    - Echeveria Highlander (long been on the wishlist and officially my most expensive plant)
    - Echeveria Gibbiflora Carunculata
    - Echeveria Violacina (a seasonal bumpy)
    - Echeveria White Rose
    - Euphorbia Obesa (I’ve wanted one for ages)
    - Echeveria Potosina
    - Echeveria Pink Bluebird
    - Graptoveria Paraguayense Bernalese
    - Plectranthus Tormentosa (Vicks plant - smells like Vicks Vaporub)
    - Echeveria Low (maybe, it was a free gift)

  14. Big potting day today trying to get 14 plants (2 cuttings went to a friend) potted, photographed, tidy up, get frost cloth off etc.

I’m going big this week and next with ones I’ve really wanted before the money runs out and I’m out of space. It’s going to be tough to ignore the weekly sales going forward but I’m going to have to if I’m going to survive financially.

Next week will likely be my last plant mail post for a while. I’ll just have to post pics of the ones that are catching my eye instead! I’m waiting (impatiently) for my zygocactus to flower (only buds so far) so I’ll definitely be sharing when that happens!

    This week’s #PlantMail newbies are:

    - Echeveria Kabaldi/Prism (this is a maybe ID as the only one the seller could provide was “pink Korean hybrid”)
    - Echeveria Pink Apparition
    - Echeveria Chihuahuaensis x Red Velvet
    - Echeveria Truffle
    - Echeveria Black Crystal
    - Echeveria Heather
    - Aeonium Cherry Blossom (gift from a seller)
    - Echeveria Lovely Bear
    - Crassula Deceptor
    - Echeveria Valkyrie
    - Echeveria Kissing Bumps
    - Echeveria Lilac Mist

Also, apologies if my alt text is not so great this week. I’m not having a good brain fog day but was really excited to share them and didn’t want to wait. It’s also really difficult to describe three very similar plants differently! If anyone wants to suggest any changes/improvements please feel free and I’ll edit it.

  15. Despite the physical changes and now just wanting to curl up in my bed and cry, I did manage to get my #PlantMail potted up today.

    This week’s newbies are:

    - Echeveria Sea Dragon
    - Echeveria Ballerina
    - Echeveria Tolimanensis Hybrid
    - Echeveria Laui x Strictiflora Nova
    - Echeveria Edgy

I also repotted my Echeveria Neon Breakers that was bursting out of her pot with lots of babies. I forgot to get a pic before she went back out under the frost cloth but she looks little in her new pot despite desperately needing the size upgrade.

I went more than a little overboard online plant shopping this week so next week’s post will be a big one!

  16. It’s my birthday week so I spoiled myself with plants. They got potted up today.

My mum and a friend are coming to visit this weekend and I can’t wait to show them all my plants.

    The newbies are:

    - Echeveria Doublette
    - Echeveria Calico Cream
    - Echeveria Zanadoo
    - Echeveria unknown bumpy (the mother plant was stunning)
    - Echeveria Flying Cloud
    - Echeveria Hakuhou (if anyone knows how to pronounce that I’d appreciate the help)
    - Echeveria Lotus Lantern?
    - Echeveria Black Rose hybrid?
    - Echeveria Blue Peacock
    - Echeveria Winter Jasmine
    - Conophytum Bilobum

  17. This week’s #PlantMail potted up. I also repotted my Echeveria Benimusume, which I posted earlier. That one I’d been dreading doing.

Then we went for a drive around town to charge my car battery, which keeps dying, and of course stopped for the requisite Saturday Bunnings sausage sanga.

    - Graptoveria Pink Rose was love at first sight.

    - Euphorbia Lactea Cristata looks much less variegated than in the sales photo so I’ve left the “Variegata” out of the name.

    - Echeveria Madiba was leaf grown from one with bumps (not by me) but not really showing any true signs of bumps at this stage.

  18. My Echeveria Benimusume on 6 June 2022 and then after repotting today, for the second time, into a larger pot. Paddle pop stick for scale.

I don’t think I’ve ever managed to properly centre a plant in a pot!

  19. I got the #PlantMail from this week potted up earlier this week. Hoping to keep the time inside in the warmth to a minimum so there’s not so much shock at being sent out into the freezing cold, especially as a couple came from the Gold Coast. I’m also pretty sure I’m coming down with something and didn’t want to risk not being up to it later in the week. These babies are too important.

    - Myrtillocactus Gometrizans Fukurokuryuzinboku (Boobie Cactus): I’ve wanted one for ages and scored it from a seller’s closing down sale at a bargain price

    - Echinocereus Rigidissimus (Rainbow Cactus): another one I’ve wanted for ages but others were higher on the wish list

    - Echeveria Superbowl: I got at a discount, presumably because it’s not a perfect specimen, but it’s perfect to me

    - Echeveria Cante x Laui: was just too petty to pass up

    - Aloe Vera: I mentioned to a friend that I’d never actually seen it for sale so she dropped me off a piece

    - Tacitus Bellus: has also been on my list for a while (the flowers are so beautiful) but had never come up in a sale when there was something else I wanted

    - Echeveria Moulin Rouge: I just couldn’t pass up. She’s going to eventually get bumps and if you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know bumpies are my absolute favourite plants

  20. Last week’s plant mail finally potted up, including a purchase from the local show on Friday.

It’s taken me all weekend to recover from my outing to the show on Friday. I woke up feeling extra rubbish this morning and I think I might have picked up a bug from one of the group of young school kids that decided to sit practically on top of us (at the direction of their teachers) while watching the wood chopping.

    - Echeveria Chantilly Mutation
    - Echeveria Unknown Bumpy
    - Echeveria Longissima Bumps
    - Echeveria Raindrops
    - Echeveria Blue Lagoon
    - Echeveria Rococo
    - Monkey’s Tail Cactus (Hildewintera Colademononsis)

  21. This week’s #PlantMail potted up. It’s been a tough week with the #LongCovid fatigue hitting me particularly hard so they didn’t get potted up until yesterday afternoon despite having all arrived by Thursday.

    - Echeveria Dream Fantasia
    - Echeveria Pagoda
    - Pachyphytum Bubblegum
    - Cotelydon Choco Line
    - Echeveria Purple Delight Variegata (cutting)
    - Echeveria Purple Delight Reverse Variegata (They are a whole lot lighter in person than the sales pictures and may not survive due to lack of colour through which to photosynthesise. Usually you’d leave practically albino ones like this on the mother plant)
    - Echeveria Morning Light

  22. This week’s #PlantMail has been potted, and handily it was just four plants this week so it was relatively quick and easy. I did, though, have to mix up another batch of soil mix because I was two trowels short on being able to fill the last pot. Super frustrating when that happens.

    Echeveria Love Raindrops
    Echeveria Thunder Tumour
Cotelydon Pendens (which gets the most beautiful flowers in spring)
    Echeveria Pure Love

  23. Last week’s #PlantMail finally potted up. Some exciting ones for me this week, not that I’m not always excited by new plants.

    Echeveria Osmanthis
    Echeveria Nebula
    Echeveria Blue Spur
    Echeveria Shaviana Bumps
Echeveria Thriller Pearl (a brand new import)
Echeveria Elegans (an oldie but a goodie)
    Echeveria Hybrid

  24. Last week’s (and a few from the week before that only arrived last week) #PlantMail. Potting was a major effort and I don’t plant on doing that many at once ever again!

    Echeveria Dracula
    Echeveria Unknown Bumpy (2)
    Echeveria Bluette
    Echeveria Calico Cream
    Echeveria Velvet Rose
    Echeveria Etna
    Echeveria Cleopatra
    Echeveria Mexican Tears
    Echeveria Boton
    Echeveria Yamato Haru
    Echeveria Seori Yeon
    Echeveria Deresina
    Echeveria Moon Fairy

  25. Excited to share this week’s #PlantMail. With more shelves on the way I’ve finally started buying something other than just frillies and bumpies again. I’m not so worried that I’ll run out of space for them before I get all the ones I really want (although the list is endless).

    Andromischus Festivus
    Echeveria Peony
Echeveria Heartthrob (will eventually get seasonal bumps)
    Echeveria unknown bumpy (possibly Baccarus)
Echeveria unknown bumpy (mother plant is spectacular)
Echeveria Hybrid (will get bumps in maturity)
Echeveria Rosales (well get bumps in maturity)
    Echeveria Little Fairy

  26. #PlantMail from this week. I bought a pack of 7 frillies and bumpies that came with an extra as a gift, plus one more that was held over from the week before due to getting rained on at the last minute.

    Echeveria Allouette
    Echeveria Cottage Garden
    Echeveria Ragamuffin
    Echeveria Baccarus
    Echeveria Verrugas
    Echeveria Rosa Lee
    Echeveria New Heights
    Echeveria Mauna Loa
    Echeveria Pagoda

It was a bigger than usual potting night and my body complained loudly so it’s taken a couple of days to get these posted. I have an extension going on my stands on Tuesday to make room for these (and more) plus they’re being winterised as well so hopefully I won’t lose any this winter to frost

  27. This week’s #PlantMail potted up plus a bonus pic of my Echeveria Beyonce that I thought was a goner and didn’t think would make it so I bought another, only to find new roots on the original one and that it’s perking up again in the middle.

There’s also a special one that I bought to honour my older adoptive brother who has passed.

    Echeveria Beyonce x 2
    Echeveria unknown bumpy x 2
    Echeveria Lilac Mist
Echeveria Love Drops (for my brother)

  28. This week’s #PlantMail potted up. Actually done on Wednesday but life has got in the way this week.

    Echeveria Ref Dragon
    Echeveria Pulidonis Christmas
    Echeveria Shaviana hybrid

The last two were free gifts.

I also bought a couple of bags of maifan stone for top dressing that I’ll break out when I’m feeling a little more on top of things. It’ll be nice to not have to worry about sifting it out when repotting plants like I currently have to with the crushed pebble I was using for a while.

  29. CW: Longer toot with this week’s plant mail

Potted up this week’s #PlantMail today.

Echeveria Tori, which I hadn’t come across before but it’s an uncommon frilly so I had to have it

Echeveria Cloudburst, which I wanted to add to my collection of pale blue leaved plants

Graptoveria Tri Colour, which is a replacement after mine dropped all of its leaves in a hissy fit last year for no apparent reason. I’m not the only one to have that happen so this is will be my last one and if it throws a tanty too then I’m not replacing it again. I debated long and hard over whether to replace it at all. I did get a teensy leaf baby from the old one too so we’ll see how that goes. I’ve potted them up together.

Aloe Distans (jewel aloe), which was a gift from the seller and not one I’d have chosen myself but it’s been put in semi shade with it’s brother aloe that I thought was dead and is now taking off and I’m sure I’ll grow to love it. A bit of variety in my plants is never a bad thing. Gotta have something in the garden for everyone to love and everyone who visits is attracted to something different.

  30. Just realised I hadn’t posted my potted up plant mail from last week. It was a big splurge week that won’t be repeated in a hurry.

    Echeveria Blue Light

Echeveria Guerlain - it’d been on my wish list for almost a year.

Echeveria Coralina - a new Mal Morgan release that I almost missed out on but my favourite seller came through for me

Echeveria Subsellis (Morning Beauty) Variegata - an “I can’t justify the postage for just one plant” purchase

Aeonium Greenovia Egg Rose - an “it’s cute, cheap and I might as well as it to my order” purchase

Echeveria Shallot Rose - a generous gift from a seller

Echeveria Thousand Paper Cranes - also been on my wishlist for almost a year and only the second time I’ve seen it for sale. I fell in love both for the look and the name. Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes was one of my favourite books as a kid.

    Aeonium Greenovia Pandora

    Echeveria Virginia Lee

Echeveria unknown bumpy - at least it will be when it matures

Echeveria Red Sails - in case the first one dies plus I couldn’t leave it at Bunnings to be overwatered to death

Random frilly that got repotted at the same time and I forgot to check the name

  31. This week’s #PlantMail got potted up tonight and there were some absolute beasts in there in terms of size. There’s a pic with the four pot sizes used and a water spray bottle for scale.

    Echeveria Little Brother
    Echeveria Bumpy Blue
    Echeveria unknown bumpy (probably Linguas)
    Echeveria Aquarius
    Echeveria Red Coral
    Sempervivum Oddity

  32. It was potting time this afternoon. The first lot were bright home from Mum’s plus a couple of free gift cuttings with an order. The second lot are from an order that arrived today. One is rather wilted but I’m hoping it’ll perk up now it’s back in soil. Regardless, I got a real bargain with that order so it won’t be the end of the world if it doesn’t.
