"I don't want to talk about it" - Everything But the Girl
Missed their date on #TOTP five years ago, and finally (finally!) have a big hit. Shame it's a Rod Stewart cover.
Tracey Thorn (singer, mid-cut spiky hair, oversized blue jacket, white shirt, white trousers) and Ben Watt (seated guitar player, black jacket, grey trousers, effortlessly cool) have had three albums of cult favourites, and gosh we've missed them.

Everything but the Girl is a Brittish duo consisting of Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn. I’m not usually one for melancholy music, but for EBTG I am happily making an exception. Tracey’s lyrics are good to fantastic, her voice adds to the story by inflicting emotion way beyond the words. The stories are carried by Ben’s superb melodies, instrumentation and production. From early steps in 1984 to massive, worldwide success during the 1990s, I can warmly recommend their entire catalog.
EBTG 💞You might have missed their 2023 release “Fuse”, be sure to check that out too.
Here’s a portrait I did of Tracey. Her lyrics and stories are right up there with Joni Mitchell and Suzanne Vega. IMHO.

Everything But The Girl remains decades after their recordings were made some of the best music in both ballad/lounge and dance/remix.
I am so thankful for Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt.

Troubled Mind, by Everything But The Girl. Anytime I can find an EBTG song for Friday night's theme is a good time. From the first album (Amplified Heart) I really listened to of theirs - 1996 I think it was. A classic to my mind.

#Bangerz of 2023 – #6:
#EBTG (#EverythingButTheGirl) put out a new album this year, 'Fuse'. Since they are Very Old and streaming is a thing that exists, it debuted at #3 and was out of the UK top 100 within four weeks. But it did not leave *my* top 100.
'No One Knows We're Dancing' is the slowest banger about dancing ever. I love it to bits.
