Off to tourism of the imagination panel. Will be interesting - I had a shock a few years ago to discover the place we went to for summer holidays when I was wee was now a Game of Thrones tourist attraction. Not sure what the tourists make of the ice cream and dulse van. 😆
-
So by the time I'd got lost in the Metropole and then dealt with someone else's dropped wallet I was not going to have time to rest/eat/caffeine/meds before the panel I really wanted to see. I thought I'd just nip back to my room for the caffeine and meds, and by the time I'd had half a hot cross bun and the meds realised that the rest of it wasn't optional. Hope the talk is on catch up.
Thirty years ago I would go to something in nearly every panel slot, be up to 1am every night, drive home, and be back at work the next day. Getting older is not fun, even if it's better than the alternative.
At least the wonders of modern technology mean I can whine about it on the internet in real time instead of having to wait until I get home. 🤣
-
This is why I should not be allowed in the dealers room when I don't have a grown-up with me.

Anyway, hiding in my room again because one of the lights in Balmoral is flickering and between that and the mask pressure point I need a break. Having bailed from the panel in Balmoral I went to the art show where amongst other things I bought an Anne Stokes colouring book, which may make an appearance at the fountain pen meet this afternoon.
Naturally, a large proportion of panels I actively want to go to are in Balmoral. Reported to Ops, so hopefully the hotel will be able to do something about it overnight.

Extremely underwhelmed by this hotel breakfast, and by the lack of HP sauce to cover its failings.
And hotel breakfast is one of the few things on the short list of "I can eat some of that even when I have migraine" , so it's not the noise in here triggering migraine.

Is anyone else having trouble with a login code on the #Eastercon portal? It's sending me an email with no login code in it.

I somehow found myself on an Eastercon panel memorialising David Lynch as a token person who has never written or edited a book. I don't know what attendees made of it but we enjoyed ourselves yapping away about Lynch's work.
I'm the one on the left - to the right we have Maura McHugh, Gary Couzens, Lynda Rucker, and Jonathan Laidlow.

Episode 133, live from Reconnect, the 2025 Eastercon in Belfast, is here! We discuss the fun we’ve had at the convention, and also discuss other forthcoming Eastercons through to 2030. It's possibly more coherent than some other live episodes?

Just proved I can still do the Time Warp even if I do have to lean on the back of the chair in front for the verses.

By some great good luck I was walking through the bar route from the ICC to the Hilton and saw three of my friends just when I was able to cope with the noise level for ten minutes or so. :-)
Had to chug several jelly babies to get my blood sugar up preemptively, but this is one place where an adult doing that is not going to raise eyebrows. 😂

Thoroughly enjoyed the panel about the legacy of Blake's 7, although I disagree about whether Blake had a specific goal/plan/outcome.
