Just felt a very small quake at about 12:25am in #EastCoCoCounty.
No mention of it yet in #MyShake
USGS lists it as a 3.4 9 km SW of Brentwood at 12:25 am in a relatively uninhabited area on the eastside of Mt Diablo & west of Marsh Creek Road
Not anything to be concerned about but didn't know there were any active fault lines out here. 🤷♂️

I just got back home after a drive in my new truck to the Central Valley to have lunch.
The truck's temp gauge read 95 F when I parked it in Stockton at 1130 and it read 107 F !!! when I got back to my house in #EastCoCoCounty at 2pm. 😲
I thought it had to be wrong but when I checked #Accuweather, it said it was 106 F and it's still not 4pm yet when temps usually peak. 🙄
I like hot weather but this is even a bit much for me. Thank goodness my house has AC & it's still working. 🙏

Hmmm. . . #Raleys reportedly is closing their store on Sand Creek in Brentwood in #EastCoCoCounty on Nov 3rd.
I frequent this store which is the major retailer in the mall at that location. Its closing will create a huge hole there.
A space right next to Raleys, which used to be occupied by a furniture store, has been vacant for years.
I hope the same doesn't happen to the Raleys bldg.
EVGo installed a set of fast chargers on the side of the bldg.
Hope the chargers aren't connected to Raleys power grid or they might have to shut down in Nov too.
Ideally, another supermarket will take over the space.. The only competition nearby is a Sprouts in the mall across the street.
There are 2 other Raleys in the area. One in Oakley & another in Antioch each about 5-6 miles from the Brentwood location.
The Raleys in Oakley is close to a Luckys. So, I'll probably start shopping there after the Brentwood store closes.

There is "truth" in this article about how difficult & competitive it can be to get a parking spot in a Costco parking lot.
As far as #EastCoCoCounty is concerned, the parking lots in Concord & Brentwood are very bad which is why I only shop at the Pittsburg location & get there at least 1/2 hour before they open to get a parking spot close to the entrance & FWIW the reason I (& I assume others) covert spots close to the entrance is to make leaving the lot easier & less time consuming. 🤷♂️

I just heard the other day that the public elementary schools in #EastCoCoCounty opened for new school year yesterday, 7/28/2026 and, I just checked, & the school year ends on 6/10/2027.
That makes a very long school year.
As I recall, when I was in school, from elementary to college, the new school year didn't start until mid/late September.
Do the students learn any more &/or do any better on achievement tests with the longer period of instruction? I doubt it. 🤷♂️

I stop by my local Safeway in #EastCoCoCounty regularly & it doesn't seem to have the empty shelf problem your does.
The problem that I often face is that they do NOT have a sale item that I want in stock but the shelves are still well stocked.
I guess they're hoping people will buy something else if the sale items are not there but I usually only go to Safeway specifically to buy things that are on sale & I have no problem leaving empty handed.
Today, I went there to buy some corn for 10 cents/ear which they had but they didn't have any prepacked salmon at $8.99/lb, any 3# tubs of potato salad or any 8 pc dark meat fried chicken for $6.99 that I also wanted to buy.
So, I just left with 4 ears of corn for 40 cents & headed to FoodMax where I bought a 2 bags full of food, including 2 salmon fillets at $8.99/@, for at total of $80.

One of the reasons that I moved to #EastCoCoCounty after I retired was for the sunny & hot weather. Space, cleanliness, less congestion & the cheaper cost of housing were other reasons.
Got a lot of the sun & heat when I 1st moved here 17 yrs ago but haven't been getting much of that lately.
Climate change, I guess. 🤷♂️

Air naturally rushes from areas of high pressure to low pressure. Because that pressure difference (or gradient) is so steep right now, it is generating fierce, fast-moving winds across the state.
As these winds turn more northerly and northeasterly, they are creating a "down-sloping" effect. Air is being forced down the sides of the North, East, and South Bay mountains. As that air sinks, it compresses, speeds up, and dries out."
The winds are coming from the north now & the winds are not expected to die off until around midday tomorrow morning Mon 5/18.

I'm glad to hear they'll be reopening a #BedBathAndBeyond store in Walnut Creek (probably where the Container Store is located now.
The one that use to be located just minutes away from me in #EastCoCoCounty was my go-to place for housewares.
