  1. And now I get this message. "Hi,

Thank you for bringing this accessibility concern to our attention. We take accessibility seriously at Instacart and are committed to making Instacart operable, understandable, and accessible for all of our customers, including individuals living with disabilities.
While we are not able to provide specific updates on the timeline for potential changes, please know that your feedback is valuable and will be thoroughly evaluated.

    Best,
The Instacart team" We're told to politely advocate, to report, to try and make things better not just for ourselves but for others. But when we get messages like this back it can feel a bit discouraging to continue trying. But on we go. Can't say I didn't try. #Accessibility #EaseOfUse #Instacart

  6. Making Linux Installs Easier for Windows Users

Linux is easier than ever, but BIOS access and bootable USB creation remain major hurdles. Many new users struggle with these steps despite Linux itself being simple to use.

A possible solution? A Windows-based installer (.exe) that:

    Creates a bootable USB automatically

    Adjusts boot order for installation

Such a tool could remove major barriers and make Linux adoption even smoother.

  7. No-brainer ease-of-use for dumb-dumbs.
    Perfect safety and security.

Pick one. You can't have both.

  8. I can't possibly be the first one to mention this, but when I look at all the folks flocking to #Bluesky, I get a bit sad. Bluesky is based on venture capital and it will eventually disappoint them all (after harvesting their details, which it has already started doing).

The only real barrier that stops people coming to #Mastodon instead is the need to pick a server and the fact that the app isn't called the same thing as the platform.

I know a lot of you would like Mastodon to stay niche, but I think we need to offer the world an alternative to the corporate internet, just like the Linux universe and developments like #LibreOffice are offering people a way out of the MicroSoft monopoly.

Is someone working on an app that has Mastodon in the name and that helps you to pick a server? Not a 'how to' page but an app that just gets you up and running like the corporate apps? If we make the sign up process easy, they will come.

  11. @ProfessorCode I'd recommend using flatpak with flatseal and fine tuning the permissions (like if the program doesn't need internet, take the internet permissions) for most people. It's the perfect mix of #security and #easeofuse

  12. Many of us only like new systems or adopt new routines if they make life significantly easier. So, to succeed in your company's digital transformation, you'll need to focus on the ease of use to overcome resistance.

  13. While I’m talking about Lumo and accessibility, I thought I’d point out that the cookie-selection screen is among the best I’ve seen (for sites that really feel the need to shower you in cookies)

  14. In #Apple’s world, #EaseOfUse means “less capability” or “less options” so now all you have is a fixed preference for “Place signature above the quoted text” which presumes top quoting, OR unticked, signature is placed at the end of the email.

Either way, you’re forced to copy and paste your signature to the appropriate place, based upon the other person’s email style.

This is NOT “easier to use”. It is not “Simpler”, it is just Lesser. /2

  15. @AmberlynWhite I got the gold tone, and bought a mint green carrying case! I carry them in a black zippered pocket in my daybag, and the bright colors make everything easier to see. #EaseOfUse

    What color are yours?

  16. @Hamishcampbell @tqt
Mate, "they" (us/we/you) are in the #dotcons for many and various reasons. Often #easeofuse is one reason, another main one being it is default / stock on device.
Another little one is lack of public awareness of replacement #floss software/apps/systems.

However, I believe a primary reason being that most folks just don't care. They just want their shit to work. [End]
