So I'm trying something new. My eldest child who has been diagnosed with ADHD had suggested I try using Loops earplugs. Now I don't know if I have any form of neurodiverse, at least I've never been diagnosed, but I do know that I have tinnitus. I've had it for years, and age and blood pressure probably doesn't make it any better. The pair of Loops I now have are supposedly good for helping tinnitus sufferers. Anyone ever try these? Anything I should know about?

*edited to add: just found the interview with the "Chasing Your Tail" guy - Matt Edmondson - who was asked to make a tool to help people recognise when they were being surveilled. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cjXp3bBd2h8 I link to it here because the #privacyGuides guide above doesn't (I think) fully explain how much information your telephone's radios freely transmit about you. He's an OSINT instructor by trade, so he's able to articulate how that information can be exploited. Were I going to any sort of political event, it's the sort of thing I'd want to understand before hand. Maybe talk to people who have attended protests in spicy countries, &/or been on the receiving end of less-lethal weapons (CS gas, sonic, microwave, water cannon, etc). Ideally find a retired copper and get their advice too. Maybe even email your lawyer *before* going... I'd wager if one did this, then one would *really* appreciate the elegance of the 10 tips in the original poster. And maybe pick up some other hot tips along the way.

Does anyone have recommendations for earplugs for very tiny earholes? Every time I go to the doctor and they look in my ears, they go “wow you have really small ear canals” and most earplugs are moderately uncomfortable to unwearable. I had some Etymotics at the metal concert last night which definitely helped with noise reduction but also were moderately uncomfortable. I’d prefer not to go the over-ear route if possible.

I had some Etymotics at the metal concert last night which definitely helped with noise reduction but also were moderately uncomfortable. I’d prefer not to go the over-ear route if possible.

My noisy neighbours upped their game and so I decided to invest in some Loop Quiet 2s. They are the best yet. Much quieter than the Wutans and almost as comfortable. The only unknown is how long they will last. Perhaps I'll post an update in another 18 months!

Went to see #Metallica on their Detroit stop of the #M72 tour last night and boy do these old men still know how to bring the heavy. From the traditional #EcstasyOfGold opener straight into #CreepingDeath to the fire of #Fuel and the #MasterOfPuppets closer this was a perfect version of a Metallica live experience.
Related, I brought two different #earplugs as well as #AirPodsPro gen 2 and I didn’t even need to switch around between them: AirPods Pro in Adaptive mode did a _fantastic_ job of attenuating the Bad Highs while letting the physical experience of the Good Lows do their job. No ear exhaustion, no ominous ringing after🤘

@actuallyautistic who else sleeps with #earplugs.?
I‘m very #sensitive to sound. Especially snoring and EMT vehicles. I also hear sounds on a higher frequency than others.
On the other hand, people talking to me outside of my area of focus atm sound like gibberish to me. I often need to ask them to repeat which makes them mad.

@douginamug Do yourself a favor and get #earplugs for about 30-50€ which usually come with a decent transport box.
Those are so much better than the usual 30 Cent foam thingies where you only hear low frequencies.
Unfortunately, it was only a couple of months ago that I've learned about them. So many #music #concerts would have been a dramatically better experience in sound. 😔
