This was found by an interdisciplinary research project led by Professor Dr. Silviane Scharl and Dr. Astrid Röpke (both from the Institute for Pre- and Protohistory of the University of Cologne). The Team shows that early farming societies began to integrate new cereal varieties into their range of crops almost 7,000 years ago.

One of my stories from The Onion’s second year, 1989, with super cool James Sturm artwork to accompany it. I drew the little Viper spaceship in MacPaint years earlier, and was thrilled to use it as a dingbat. The details were a slice of my personal life.

“Mike Evans” because we made up fake names to make it seem like we had more writers than we actually did.

P.S. Battlestar Galactica 2003 was brilliant, in my humble opinion.

Before #NCSA #Mosaic, #Netscape and all modern browser nonsense, there was #Erwise browser. Erwise was released in April 1992 and it was a thesis project from 4 Helsinki University of Technology (now called #aaltouniversity) students. The project stalled when the people behind it graduated and moved to new things, and no funding for continuing the project was found.

Apparently there was some external interest to continue the project, but all documentation being in Finnish stymied such attempts. Some estimates suggest that this delayed development of world wide web by about a year. #www #earlydays

I have to say, having spent a little time there, I simply do not get the excitement about BlueSky. Folks are raving about how wonderful and nice and like Twitter used it be it is... but it's (as of yesterday, I believe) 50,000 users, acquired mostly by users-inviting-their-friends.

The web interface is extremely bare bones (making me constantly miss features in Mastodon!)

We'll see what happens, but thus far my feed here remains far more enjoyable and active.
