I just hate being at the same intersection, as an escooter flies through without stopping or looking. I really don’t want to see an accident.

It’s the yourh without helmets, going through stop signs, that makes me hold my breath in fear.

It's interesting that the article says that here in BC speed for the #escooters is limited by law to 25 or 26 km/hour; a couple of weeks ago I followed and clocked 3 riders, two different times; all were doing at least 50 km/hour. One was well in excess of that.

I have a suggestion for reducing injuries from #escooters: 1) make it a law that their speed is governed and limited, say, to 15 kms/hr (who needs to go 70?) 2) in the event a rider is found riding without a helmet, seize the scooter.
Word would spread very, very quickly.

It’s absolutely fantastic that kids are out riding e-scooters but they need safe protected bike lanes and junctions and helmets and there need to be riding clubs that’ll teach safety & consideration

Requiring helmets and hi-viz because users of #escooters get crushed by #cars is the equivalent to requiring students to wear bullet-proof vests because school-shootings.

The responsibility is with the instrument of violence and its user:
• the gun and the shooter,
• the car and the driver.

Doctors asking for an outright ban on e-scooters after 6 kids suffered critical injuries over the last few days. That is total BULLSHIT: kids are not even supposed to be on those scooters already, but parents keep giving them.
They should be handled the very same way a moped is handled. E-scooter can be an incredible resource for commuting, with a #publictransport system which is far from optimal. But slogans are way more effective than actual and enforceable measures.
