I've released version 0.2.0 of the E-Ink Dashboard for Home Assistant. I had a lot of duplicate code PIL renderer in the backend and canvas renderer in the frontend. I found a solution to only have onc: SVG Jinja templates! A browser can display SVG and I can rasterize them for E-Ink Displays. Also the widget are a bit nicer now.

For those #eink peeps I have been enjoying Atkinson hyperlegible as my device font on my bigme hibreak pro and I have recently started using lexend in my rss reader app feedme. I am on a 300 ppi screen so can't tell you if it will work well on yours but you should give them a shot.I see all you guys with your new xt4s lol.

Mein #eink #artframe ist bei Software v34 angekommen und es ist jetzt eigentlich alles drin.
Mein Case ist bei v5.2 und sieht nun auch ordentlich aus.
Hier eine Ausführung in Gold/Silber und Holz-PLA mit Mahagoni-Beize. Das Beizen hat nicht ganz so gut geklappt wie gedacht.

Ça y est, j'ai reçu ma Xteink X4 ! Sitôt reçu, sitôt Crosspoint installé ! J'ai mis un peu de temps à comprendre qu'il fallait cliquer sur le nom cryptique de la liseuse pour ensuite installer le firmware open source ! Mais ça s'est fait très rapidement. J'y ai mis la série de livres qu'on m'a conseillé dernièrement "Le clan des Otori". Et c'est vraiment très très cool cette petite liseuse !
Le côté non tactile n'est pas du tout dérangeant, vu qu'on a des boutons physiques pour changer les pages.
Je reviendrai en causer après plusieurs jours d'utilisation, mais déjà, j'aime !

Nachdem die Akkus nun gekommen sind, habe ich den ersten Prototypen des #eink #artframe aufgehängt. Das sieht schon ganz nett aus.
Das Case ist nicht ideal, da für ein anderes Board. Das muss ich noch ändern und teste dann Holz-PLA.
Grafik täglich neu, selbst lokal auf NAS generiert, siehe @artframe_flower
Die Software hat noch Bugs; der ESP wacht nicht automatisch auf, beim Reset wird der Akku recht schnell leer, die Dithering-Preview stimmt noch nicht ganz… Aber im Großen klappts.

got the kobo libra color in yesterday; i'm very content with this thing. the pen input is no ipad + apple pencil, but it is nice for jotting down quick notes! the scribble to text recognition is REALLY nice for a low-end device like this.

sadly, i'm not really wanting to use koreader as much as i thought i would. the native kobo reader has better pen input support and is directly integrated with the device, so i'm more willing to use that over the third party book reader software. but i still have it installed, it takes up like 0 space. i think if koreader was more nicely integrated with the native kobo software i would use it more. i like the kobo library look for knowing how much time i have left to read. i know koreader has syncing and stuff but honestly i'm just wanting to sit down and read instead of setting up another program. kobo's default reading experience is perfectly fine.

the overall reading experience is very nice. the backlight does its job and the blue light tone adjusts nicely if you have the tint auto-enabled. the display is very responsive for an e-ink device and the colors, while muted, are a nice addition to the traditional reading experience. i didn't know i was missing the rgb that much until i saw a book cover pop up on the device's sleep screen. looks great.

this is definitely the device you should pick up if you want to read books. this feels repairable and premium while not totally breaking my bank.
