The government of #Estonia has issued EUR 1bn worth of long-term #bonds to cover the state #budget #deficit and to provide more liquidity. This was the first ever #government bond issue under the Estonian legal framework.

The US won't default on its #debt, so the only question re #deficit spending is how much taxpayer money do we have to waste later paying a higher interest rate to get people to lend us money today in the form of buying our bonds. And what does having that option mean re the other things people with money would otherwise invest in etc. I'd rather cut defense spending, be as efficient as possible and find ways to make the rich pay more taxes. Concentrated wealth distorts democracy.
