Honestly I don't know how everyone does it. Writing on my phone is so tiring. I have about forty five minutes blocked out a day to try to catch up on my text messages and it's sometimes not enough. And it's tiring. Part of it is because I have trouble manipulating my phone. The precision needed to type is hard for me. But like also... It's a lot of time! How do people have this time?? What's your secret??

Observation of the day: #OHC #Covid19 tests are *not* very accessible either for #blind or #dyspraxic users. All those tiny parts, so the dyspraxic me was struggling to hold the extractor steady while doing all the other stuff, and the test takes 15 minutes, so unless you have a *bunch* of minutes for Aira or something, you're using up a *bunch* of time figuring out how the thing works. I certainly wouldn't recommend them for #NeurodivergentBlind people. @neurodivergentblind

Describing spaces is an ingrown nail of a topic. When I close my eyes, there's an occasional ethereal outline that *might* be an environment, but other than that, nothing. As I'm #dyspraxic (#dyspraxia), I have a poor grasp of visual space, and can't describe it beyond the basics unless there are references in front of me. At that point, I feel like I'm tracing.

I'm coming to realize, I absolutely *cannot* move quickly at all if I don't want anything to go wrong. A mix of being #ActuallyAutistic plus #Dyspraxic means that I can't always catch if something is at risk of falling, and can't always catch it if it does. #Phiaton #Bonobuds are troopers! They survived a puppy trying to make a chew toy out of them. From now on, *any* standing up I do is going to *start* with a positional assessment of *everything* in my immediate vacinity. The reality I am coming to accept is that no, I can't just move in an instant. #Dyspraxia sucks, and trying to push around it just leads to problems.

Looking back, it was my dyspraxia which most ruined my social opportunities. I didn't ride a bike until I was 12. Left out early, in rural areas where everyone had them.
I'm bad at it and would get hurt. The great Midwest ethos is that one must be at least average at everything. Almost didn't graduate from high school for refusal of PE. Managed a note from Dr.
Sports are so boring to watch I refuse. So there we are. An American mutant.

My #introduction post: I'm #Autistic & was diagnosed with "hyperactivity" before #ADHD existed in the DSM. I self-diagnosed in my 20s, back in the early 2000s, but only got an official diagnosis (privately, as the NHS in my area was useless for AFAB adults) in January 2020. In addition, I'm #dyspraxic and #dyscalculic too.
I'm #disabled and #ChronicallyIll - my main diagnoses are #PoTs , #CentralSleepApnea , #Endometriosis , #InterstitialCystitis and #HidradenitisSuppurativa (among others).
As well as being #ActuallyAutistic , I'm an #atheist , a #humanist and #demisexual , #bisexual and #nonbinary .
I love the #Marvel character #TheWinterSoldier and the actor Sebastian Stan, #Rats , #knitting , #crochet , #tunisiancrochet, #writing and anything #medicine or #scientific . #Learning is definitely a #spin (and clearly I love hashtags too 😂).
If I say something that seems off, please just ask me to clarify. I always try to say exactly what I mean, but that doesn't always translate in reality.

@Herstory1 @occtherapy Absolutely agree that self-identification is valid for all neurotypes. It's appalling that people have to wait so long.
The health and social care system should have a policy where people are still recognised as 'likely to be' #Autistic, #Dyspraxic, #ADHD etc whilst waiting for official confirmation - thereby still able to access a lot of the support and accommodations at school, in the workplace in the meantime.
This is different unfortunately for being assessed for ADHD medication, but it's a start
