Once I get my finances back in check (pay off debt) the dyslexic ASUS ROG STRIX x670e-f motherboard (when I say this, the problems* are well documented) will be replaced with one that supercedes it, ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E.

*Sound, PCI-E and NIC are all routed via USB and suffer random frequent "disconnections". USB ports "disconnect" when anything is plugged into them at random. Graphics shuts off. System reboots during standby.

Targeting people who read left->right (ie EN) and are #dyslexic is it better to have a form or row label
* left aligned (for the average person)
* right aligned (so its harder to read the wrong label to the row)
* it depends on screen size

Cisco website was really bad for this in 2010 era, no idea if they fixed it yet.

One of my colleagues mentioned today that her #dyslexic girlfriend uses #ChatGPT to rewrite her emails, as she struggles with both letters and numbers. Before, she was dependent on her parents and friends to proofread any important communication.

@UlrikeHahn Uhhmmm... when I got my undergrad degree back in 1986, I just submitted a 70,000 word dissertation (and sat three in person exams for my minor courses, but I don't think they contributed hugely -- I'm not good at exams, which is why I opted for dissertation). These days, that dissertation could be easily faked.

Unless you require hand-written answers in exams, which as a #dyslexic person I couldn't do, I don't see how in-person non-viva exams help much.

So, this feels (to me) like an odd realization for a 50 year old Owlbear, but… I think I might be #dyslexic.

Is it… possible that someone who reads (very slowly) as much as I do and who has played role playing games (a fairly wordy hobby) since they were seven, and who even writes poetry and game design stuff as a hobby… could I have missed that for this long?

So … to get the normal apps I need to work onto my new Kubuntu (Ubuntu) computer, I need to
▪ find it on a developer's own site. Probably find several.
… randomly choose one?
▪ somehow vet the developer myself? lest his executable harm my computer or hijack my data
▪ type the magical incantation into a terminal window to install it (#dyslexic, aargh)
▪ find another magical incantation to start it up ...

Q: Is this life on Linux?

@ukapala So I offer a counter viewpoint? I’m #autistic and #dyslexic and I find that (for anything non-trivial) my brain absorbs information much *better* when presented in video (or strictly audio) form; and that it kinds of slides off (like water on a duck) if only read it. So I make extensive use of audiobooks (and text to speech software) and videos when trying to learn anything.

Now that said I will be the first to admit that there are a *lot* of terrible videos on the internet - where people (as you say) take a 30-second video and make it five minutes with pointless fluff. And those are as annoying as heck. But usually I can just skip those and find a better video.

I guess at the end of the day - my point here is everyone processes information differently - and that variety is good.

Also thankyou to all of the people who are still making videos with the objecting of sharing knowledge - and not with the intent to try to “be an influencer”.

I used to be part of the #SocietyForCreativeAnachronism (#SCA) and my name there was Arianwen. A friend of mine gave me the name Lady A and ever since then it has been my name in the virtual world and sometimes elsewhere too.

In my free time I like to write stories, read books, watch movies (fantasy, scifi, historical... absolutely no horror), play computer- and board games, and I always enjoy a stroll in the forest. I also enjoy listening to music and playing piano. Sadly my free time is a bit scarce since I have three special needs children.

During the summer time I spend quite much time in the garden. I like to grow flowers and vegetables. During the winter time I enjoy baking a lot and I have a keen interest in sourdough bread. I also spend time with my dog and rescue cat.

I'm very interested in #ClimateChange #OrganigFood and #history especially #holocaust #AncienGreek #AncientRome #AncientEgypt and #MedievalTimes.

Kesäisin keskityn #puutarha'an ja #kasvihuone'eseen, joissa kasvaa kukkien lisäksi osa perheeni ruuasta. Talvisin on enemmän aikaa leipoa ja muutenkin viettää aikaa keittiössä. Keittiön nurkassa asusteleekin #taikinajuuri.

Hi, I'm Lady A.

I used to be part of the #SocietyForCreativeAnachronism (#SCA) and my name there was Arianwen. A friend of mine gave me the name Lady A and ever since then it has been my name in the virtual world and sometimes elsewhere too.

In my free time I like to write stories, read books, watch movies (fantasy, scifi, historical... absolutely no horror), play computer- and board games, and I always enjoy a stroll in the forest. I also enjoy listening to music and playing piano. Sadly my free time is a bit scarce since I have three special needs children.

During the summer time I spend quite much time in the garden. I like to grow flowers and vegetables. During the winter time I enjoy baking a lot and I have a keen interest in sourdough bread. I also spend time with my dog and rescue cat.

I'm very interested in #ClimateChange #OrganigFood and #history especially #holocaust #AncienGreek #AncientRome #AncientEgypt and #MedievalTimes.
Because of my children's diagnosis I'm very interested in #AutismSpectrum #ADHD #TouretteSyndrome and #OCD.

I've always been very interested in different sorts of epidemics so naturally I'm also very interested in #Covid19 and also #LongCovid. 😷 Now also about the #birdflu #H5N1

Hei, olen Lady A. Nimi juontaa juurensa vuosien takaiseen harrastukseen Suomen keskiaikaseurassa (SCA), jossa nimeni oli Arianwen.
Eräs ystäväni tapasi kutsua minua nimellä Lady A ja se tarttuikin mukaan lähes kaikkeen virtuaalimaailmassa ja vähän muuallakin.
