  3. RE: mstdn.social/@DemocracyMatters

As every New Yorker has known for half a century, Donald J. Trump has ALWAYS been #TheBiglyestLoser.

Sucks that America had to lose WITH him. #DyingToOwnTheLibs

  4. RE: mastodon.social/@tess/11572078

...and that they were democratically voted into control of its entire government, AGAIN, after four whole years in which they were unable to come up with ANYTHING, even THAT in(hum)ane. 😖 #TurdReich #DyingToOwnTheLibs

  5. Trump 1.0 killed millions globally--including over a million Americans--because he mismanaged #COVID and left his own voters #DyingToOwnTheLibs. Now, Trump 2.0 is set to kill millions more, smothered in #DoGEshit.

  6. They really DO want more of their voters #DyingToOwnTheLibs....

  7. @Epic_Null No, I understood. But we DID that back in 2015-2016 and people didn't seem to care. The most critical insight for understanding Trumpist popularism is that THE ONLY thing that matters to them is #MuhLibruhlTears. As long as he keeps saying and doing things to deliver them their fix, they will accept ANY personal hardship--up to and including them or their loved ones #DyingToOwnTheLibs--that the #Donjjal asks of them.

Not saying we don't try--it IS a good idea. We need to approach this the way i approached the counterterrorism issue in the GWOT: I said look, there will ALWAYS be your ideologically committed al-Qa'ida, and the only cure for them is a high-velocity lobotomy. But the al-Qa'ida PROBLEM is like an onion: around THEM are people who don't really understand or care about the ideology, but can be radicalized because it gives them a sense of greater meaning for lives they feel are dead-ended and are sick of living. And around THEM are an even GREATER number who will never actually become radicalized THEMSELVES, but are happy to offer active support TO THOSE WHO ARE, as long as they get to watch the people they blame suffer AT THE HANDS OF the radicalized. And around THEM are a VAST number who aren't gonna offer any ACTIVE support, but will passively support or go along with those who do, as long as they deliver their fix.

And each of those outer layers MAY be reachable, by the right strategy--some of which involve actually, measurably making their lives better in ways they care about; some involve providing them with the right INFORMATION that they care about, so they understand the vacuity of what the ideologues have on offer; some involve giving them topcover in their social circles to express doubts.

You figure out what works for each, and craft an integrated strategy that peels back as many layers of that onion as you can, before you WORRY ABOUT dealing with that small, hard core of committed ideologues--the "true believers"--who are never gonna change.

  8. @inthehands I mean his buildings in New York are all FULL of the stuff--so its time for more of his constituents to be #DyingToOwnTheLibs! 😖
