  1. @ZackPolanski Given the #LibDems are now to the #Left of them, & #Labour spend all their time trying to ape #ReformUK & its #policies, they're definitely hard #Right. The #DWP under Labour are continuing the #Tory #attacks on #disabled people.

  3. #Burnham has reappointed #PatMcFadden as Secretary of State for Work & Pensions. #DWP.

This is one of those decisions best explained visually. If the new Prime Minister had wanted to convey any hint of goodwill towards recipients of social welfare, he would have moved heaven and earth to find a friendly face.

Instead, Andy has chosen a face who looks like the gleeful chief of a team of vultures feeding on corpses.

McFadden has a great face for radio. But this is not the radio era.

  5. And still the DWP cannot get the carers' support system to work.... I've said it before: carers are doing socially vital work & should not be put in the position of unbeknownst to them racking up debts subject to onerous 'repayment' demands by the DWP.

[Full transparency: I am in receipt of carer's allowance myself, but not effected personally by this issue]

The review of social care needs to offer hope to those the DWP is abusing!

  7. Hoorah, finally got Universal Credit sorted out!

The whole process has been immensely difficult and complicated for what is a pittance. I'm grateful there's something, but it's definitely not enough and it's no incentive for a person to choose benefits over work.

Now just to wait for PIP to respond so I can get that one moving.

  9. Yet more evidence of the Department of Work & Pension's inhumanity (should for some reason you need more evidence):

People with life long conditions (despite DWP 'guidance' to the contrary) are being given time-limited support & being required to endure successive Personal Independence Payment reviews... which is also adding expense for the DWP.

The callousness of the DWP lies in the embedded belief all claims are potentially fraudulent!

  24. DWP continue to be bad at their job. Set up a new joint UC claim but partner wasn't home, so was told to simply call later to add his details when he was. Tried that to be told we need to start a new claim which... what?

This is after the GP won't give me a Fit Note without seeing the DWP Assessor first, which I also need for this new UC Claim.

This is stupid. It's been 13 months since my diagnosis now and I'm no further towards getting help than I was then.

  27. Wales does not exist.

I registered with a government website as part of my search for work. Filling in the details there is a drop down menu to select your region. This is a long list of counties together with Scotland, Northern Ireland and Isle of Man......but nothing for anything near where I live. No Powys, no Ceredigion, nor Dyfed, not even "Wales".

No option for typing in anything.

  29. @etchedpixels @ChrisMayLA6 There have been attempts to "involve" #disabled people in policy-making in the UK. I was a member of a group of #autistic people who were consulted by civil servants from the #DWP at the National Autistic Society in London over changes to the #benefit system. We might as well have been talking to a brick wall!

  30. The JobCentrePlus (Department of Work & Pensions) asked me for a non-existent bank statement.

I sent them the following message.

    --- message sent 2026-03-24 0905 ---
As I am required to obtain a Bank Statement for November 2025; Would it be possible for DWP-JCP to produce a letter (in hardcopy and digital (pdf or other) formats) with two predicates expressing that :-

DWP-JCP has requested that I obtain a Bank Statement for November 2025,

and whether, when asking for the four bank statements, the DWP-JCP did or did not know that NatWest does not produce Bank Statements for months when there is "no activity" in a bank account.

    Thank You.

Now, they want to talk to me for half an hour ... over the phone!

    Prey for their Souls 👹

  31. Urgh. Got a letter from DWP regarding my PIP claim. They are telling me I was fine on the phone assessment, which I very much wasn't, and that I've got no medical evidence that I have ME/CFS.

So I guess I'm submitting the diagnosis from the neurologist for the... seventh time?

DWP are disputing that I'm even allowed to take this to tribunal. Is this normal? This doesn't feel normal.

  32. You'll be unsurprised that the Department of Work & Pensions is still sending demands out for repayment of 'overpayment' of carers allowance even after Govt. commitments to reform the system & review/reassess all cases, based on Liz Sayce's caustic review of the DWP's actions against carers.

Once again the DWP's inhumanity is on show but this time its hard to mount the defence they're only doing the Minister's bidding as the Govt. is explicitly not asking for this!
