That's a pity when a optical disk loses it's data due to a couple of a broken sectors.
How about adding some redundancy, so even a cheap disk will be more prepared to endure through the years?
#dvdisaster does just that and has a magnificent user manual!
"Recovery files" may be created even for already burned disks.

Restoring some film scans from DVD+Rs and one had a few errors. Luckily I had saved the Reed-Solomon data produced by #dvdisaster and was able to restore it. But I'd never done that before and in searching for help I found that it had been apparently abandoned by its author. Debian has the last "developer" version in experimental, and speed47 maintains his own branch with some enhancements.

Früher war es üblich, Backups auf CD oder DVD abzulegen. Mit Glück sind diese heute noch lesbar. Falls nicht, lassen sich die Daten meist mit Software retten.
