  5. I’ve go so much to say about the #Liberals but will keep it to just these points….

Anyone that thinks that changing the name of the Party will make them better is delusional.

Describing Taylor’s task as “turning around a tanker” is delusional. It isn’t a tanker, it is now a dinghy.

When it comes to breaching trust, let’s not forget that not only did #Morrison do so, so did #Abbott and #Dutton.

‘Now, the Coalition is solid as a rock” says #Taylor. He nearly got it right - they are sinking like a stone.

  11. A Last Time For Everything | Book Review

A few years ago, I liked the novel Dad Camp by Evan S. Porter. When I received notice that his latest novel A Last Time For Everything was available to check out, I jumped at the chance.

Thank you Netgalley and Dutton for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

    This was a fun story.

Arthur and Wren have a baby on the way, a loving relationship, and a bucket list. He’s more cautious in life, and she’s more spontaneous and throws caution to the wind. Opposites that attract. A common theme.

Their decade old bucket list, however, throws everyone for a loop. They’re both terrified of having this baby, so the list is a nice, welcome distraction.

The disagreements and arguments felt real — raw — but so did the happy moments. The trip to Chuck E. Cheese was one of my favorite things in the entire book. It was so funny and touching at the same time. Brilliant.

There’s one story beat that I did not love.

SPOILER: I didn’t love Arthur buying the house without discussing it with Wren.

While I understand that it was reinforcing the point that he was kind of desperate to prove that he could be spontaneous as well, it fell flat for me. I thought it was a little bit too much out of character for Arthur, but it wasn’t enough to curtail my enjoyment of this book

I can’t wait to see what’s coming next.

For Porter, over enjoyed the first two novels of his career. I think Dad Camp edges this one out, but I still had a great time with it. Whenever the third one is released, I’ll be checking it out as well.

We should point out to the #Liberal ‘leadership’ that they have two choices…
    1. Back down to aussage a #Dutton temper tantrum, and prove that they are a party without the capacity to recognise the message from the voters; or…
    2. Send him a note saying sue us if you dare, we have a backbone and can rely on the truth a defence.

Lemme get this straight: the man who led the Liberals—#Australia's more conservative major party, natch—to the worst defeat in its 60+ year history wants to legally suppress the internal inquiry into its risible electoral performance because… it may suggest he was in some part responsible?

And not, say, the mythical Communist fifth column the snowflake Right routinely blames for its poor showing at the polls?

  20. Is #Dutton pissed off because the report blames him, the then leader, for the #LiberalDecimation at the last election?
I wonder if he would have widely shared the credit if the party had done surprisingly well?

  24. I used to live in the next town over, and it’s gratifying to see the #Nadesalingam family finally thriving as part of #Biloela's community. The lengths #ScoMo’s government—and particularly then-Home Affairs Minister #Dutton—went to in order to make an example of them were both ludicrouslty excessive and shameful. I’m glad they're finally home safe. #murugappan #auspol #immigration #BackToBilo rssfeed.media/@abcfeeds/115006

  26. Dumping 600 corflutes with #Dutton’s face.

#LNP HQ had sent the posters at the start of the campaign & demanded they be put up across the electorate’s suburbs, alongside 1000s of posters campaigners had already distributed.

“We said not in a million years. For every one we’d put out we’d lose 10 votes.”

“Everyone said ‘this party doesn’t deserve to be elected, that I’m a lifelong #Liberal, but there’s no way I’m voting for this party with this leader’.” #auspol

  29. CW: Auspol - Labor’s Majority Government

    #auspol

Labor has a clear majority in the House of Representatives.

The Liberal National Coalition have been reduced to cross bench numbers. To be fair, #Dutton had been telling Australians to vote “No” for many years.

The Greens were wiped out. The vote count is ongoing, but despite gains in their nationwide vote, The Greens may have failed to secure a single seat.

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party and the Clive Palmer financed Trumpet Of Patriots Party also failed to secure any seats.

In the Senate, it appears The Greens have done very well, as did Labor.

Labor now have three years to do whatever they like. They should have no problem passing good legislation for the benefit of all Australians. Anthony Albanese has an opportunity to become one of the greatest leaders in Australian history. An opportunity to prove that Labor is not just “the lesser evil.”

It’s up to them now. Let’s hope they’ll keep those election promises and make the most of the possibilities presented to them. And let’s hope that they’ll act in the interests of the people over corporate interests.

Here’s to the future, and keeping the bastards honest.

  31. CW: CW: auspol, post-election fallout

Leaked #LNP pre-election polling showed (correctly) that #Dutton was on track for a catastrophic defeat.

Amidst the ashes, LNP figures lay blame for their crushing loss—the worst since the #Liberal Party was founded in 1944—at the very same pollsters' feet. And Menzies House is rumoured to be in the early stages of legal action against… you guessed it.

They must've run out of Moderates to scapegoat this time around.

  33. #Liberal MPs will meet in coming days to elect a replacement for the defeated opposition leader #Dutton after the party’s historic #drubbing in the federal #election.

    I suggest musical chairs.

Whoever wins gets to decline the poisoned chalice of #leadership of a thrice gutted party.

The shallowest end of the gene pool to choose from.

  34. Yup. That’s why #Dutton kept well clear of his proposed #NuclearSites during the election campaign - because they were SO wanting nuclear in their areas - NOT! #auspol

  35. Did I mention that Australia defeated Voldemort on the weekend?

    #auspol #dutton

  36. Apart from their nuclear power policy it seemed to me, as an observer, that #Dutton had basically rehashed #NZPol National, Act and NZ First policies including NZ National’s election slogan ‘Back on Track’ yet NZ PM #Luxon seems convinced the #AusPol & #CdnPoli election results were due to people supporting incumbent governments with sound economic policy. In Luxon’s case incompetent govt with failed economic policies is more accurate.
