All these other Brigades have been helping with the operation - they assist #Suffolk FRS so the firefighters on scene can get rest and recovery time, and also not to leave the rest of the county short of available appliances to deal with any other emergencies)

Thursday 30 July 2026"A huge nuclear power plant in Suffolk is on alert as wildfires continue to tear through #Dunwich Heath, with authorities declaring a 'major incident'.
"Authorities at #SizewellB are understood to be monitoring the situation, which firefighters called 'live and dynamic'. There is currently no risk to the station, operator #EDF energy said.
"At least 90 firefighters are on the scene of the 'large-scale, wind-driven forestry fire' which broke out on Dunwich Heath around 5.30pm on Wednesday. Fire chiefs said they are expected to be tackling the blaze near the plant for 'at least 24 to 48 hours'.
"Residents in several coastal properties and caravans have been forced to leave, and firefighters pleaded with people to stay away.
"The smoke and flames have also spread to the #RSPBMinsmere #NatureReserve, which includes nationally important wildlife habitats protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)."

Reading my first HP Lovecraft, The Dunwich Horror
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/50133I grew up in Suffolk UK going to the weirdest used bookshop in Dunwich, it was in a converted house, the owner always wore a dressing gown and slippers and knew ALL the books. Sometimes he gave me a mug of tea while we browsed.

More #Introduction. I was born and brought up in #Ipswich #Suffolk. I attended the #Northgate Grammar School for Girls. The boys’ school was next door but strictly segregated. My grandfather was a #Coastguard in #Dunwich. The house is still clinging on although the steps to the beach have been washed away
