Had a good #DungeonWorld #TTRPG session this evening. They took a big risk recently, and the payoff is enabling them to make some big moves in the campaign in the very near future.

@jalanhenning I only GMed #DungeonWorld and read into some others, but I actually usually find the 6- harder to handle, especially repeated ones. Of course you can always just go "that didn't work" or hit them in the face, but keeping it interesting and not stop the momentum is more difficult imo.
With a 7-9 on the other hand, I can usually find a complication or "yes, but" quite easily, while the initiative stays with the PCs.

Also finally ran another #DungeonWorld #TTRPG session, but we had to end early due to a player having connection issues.

Yesterday I played role-playing games with a bunch of strangers and it was fun!

A random post on Mastodon caught my attention (thanks hashtags!) and I signed up for the game.

Although I've played a lot of #RPG over the years, especially #rolemaster in the 90s and #DungeonWorld in the 2000s, I haven't played much in the last 10+ years.

This was a great way to get back into it - no campaign pressure, no long character generation, just an old-fashioned bit of dungeon-crawling and monster-bashing with #DCCRPG and it's unusual dice system.

We played in a local social club - right alongside a bunch of old ladies playing bridge and asking us to keep it down.

Runden: insgesamt waren alle unterhaltsam und mit tollen Mitspielenden.
Samstagmittag: #DungeonWorld auch mal als Spieler war interessant, das würde ich auch gerne öfter machen.
Tolle Mitspielende und ich finde der SL hat eine sehr runde Sache draus gemacht - ich weiß aus eigener Erfahrung, dass das bei freieren Systemen in festem Slot nicht einfach ist

Nach der Begrüßung (inkl. musikalischen Einlagen) und einem kurzen Rundgang steht um 11:00 die erste Runde an - #DungeonWorld

Ich habe für Samstag #DungeonWorld und #TurboFate (👋 @HeyHoLetsFlow ) bekommen.

Sonntag war dann schon nichts mehr frei, das mich interessiert hätte (jetzt um 20:20 übrigens ist füe beide Tage nur noch in 7 Runden Platz, davon 5 speziell für Kinder). Aber es ist ja auch Bühnenprogramm geboten und eine Dauerrunde #BloodOnTheClocktower.
Und nachher schau ich nochmal ins Regal, ob ich noch ein Spiel bereit habe, um es als Backup einzupacken 🤔

A few sessions ago, they interrogated the head of an enemy they killed. The mercenary had been hire at an address on Drury Lane. Today, they made it to that address and found the cafe called GrubMuffin's, owned by Mimi Grub, aka, The Muffin Ma'am.

#Stonetop: Interesting approach, but I don't think it’s particularly comparable to #DnD / #Dungeonworld. Sure, some elements are similar, but imo it's essentially about a community, which makes it closer to #ttrpg like #Runequest or #ArsMagica. The worldbuilding and ideas provided are great. Enjoy

Oooof. After 2.5 years of this #DungeonWorld #TTRPG campaign, one of the PC's died this evening. There were tears.

@HeyeBodo meine Runde als SL funktioniert mit #DungeonWorld sehr gut für mich (und für die Spielys offensichtlich auch). Wenn ich mir da was wünschen könnte, wäre es eine oder mehrere weitere Runden (in aderen Systemen und ggf. Spielarten) als zusätzliche Abwechslung - da habe ich aber keine Kapazitäten für.

Dafür wird die Kampagne aber auch nicht ewig - ich peile noch max. ein halbes Jahr an, und dann mache ich wieder was anders. Da kommt's aber auch immer drauf an, wofür ich Spielys finde.

Nach ner Runde #Daggerheart am Freitag bin ich zwiegespalten. Ich sehe für Menschen, die von DnD und DSA kommen, ähnliche Effekte wie damals bei #DungeonWorld. Die Erkenntnis, dass es auch andere coole Ideen und Spielweisen gibt. Einige Dinge fühlten sich bei mir aber etwas unrund an. Vor allem merkte ich, dass es *mir* zu hybrid ist.

Denke, wenn ich Bock auf die Art von Fantasy habe, ist es jedoch eher ein Kandidat als DnD/Pathfinder für mich. 🙂

Session 3 of my #DungeonWorld campaign at @jungundaltspielt and it was fantastic.
One additional player (great sign that one of the players brought a friend) and the group is coming together nicely.
But man can they roll badly - I had one character at the Black Gate again after a whole row of fails. It started with one from the witch that fired dark magic into her back accidentally 😬 then went downhill from there. I'm really happy her Last Breath roll succeeded.

Second session in my #DungeonWorld campaign. I used the low player count (only three today) to give the Gladiator a duel encounter and boy, was that epic.
Taking out the Goblin Champion sent him to the Black Gate at the same time.
My description of the Beyond almost made him step through without even rolling. But when he did roll, it was the perfect result: a 7-9, where Death makes an offer.
Long story short: someone will now have to continue his quest for glory with only one arm.

@storypunks bei der Regelseite sieht es ähnlich aus - aus meinen Erfahrungen mit #DungeonWorld und anderen #pbta denke ich, dass das fate-artige Boni/Mali-System zu viel Verzögerung (und schlimmstenfalls Diskussion) rein bringen kann und den mir wichtigen Erzählfluss bremsen könnte.
Aber auch hier: das ist Geschmackssache. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass da viele Spass dran haben werden.

Auf jeden Fall ist es einen Blick wert!

Nach Erscheinen werde ich sicher auch nochmal drüber nachdenken.

@mitvorteil ich habe erst kürzlich meinen ersten komplett eigenen Dungeon gebaut (bzw. die bereits definierten Elemente - es ist #DungeonWorld, also #PbtA, daher recht offen).
Es begann mit einer Grundidee - ich wollte "klassische Fantasy mit einem Twist", daraus wurde dann ein Gnomenlabor. Ziemlich schnell kamen dann die Aufgabe und grober Hintergrund, Endgegner und NPC dazu (in der Abfolge ziemlich wild, ich kann es gar nicht mehr genau sagen).

Any great blog posts about writing factions? Specifically looking for advice on giving them motivations, triggering them to do things when they're off screen, and making sure they're pointed at each other to cause fireworks.

My default approach would be to crib liberally from Dungeon World's fronts and grim portents, but I'm sure there's more to be said on the topic.

1/ #Laberfaden zu Würfelsystemen bei Pen & Paper

Mittlerweile konnte ich Pen & Paper Rollenspiele mit den verschiedenen #Würfelsystemen anschauen und ich finde es, macht schon einen großen Unterschied für das Spielgefühl.

Bisher am besten gefallen mir Würfelsysteme, die ich "Normalverteilte" bezeichnen würde, weil die Wahrscheinlichkeiten eine #Gaußkurve bilden.

Das sind alle Systeme, die mehrere Würfel verwenden und die Ergebnisse addiert werden. So sind durchschnittliche Ergebnisse am häufigsten und wirklich gute und wirklich schlechte eher selten.

Z.B. bei zwei W6 gibt es für 12 und 2 nur jeweils ein Ergebnis, für 7 aber am meisten.

Systeme die so funktionieren sind z.B. #DungeonWorld und #Fate und auch #Torg, wobei da ein W20 Wurf auf eine Tabelle gemapt wird, die für eine Normalverteilung sorgt.
