    #Dundee City Council invites feedback on the draft #Gaelic Language Plan for 2026-31:

    Sobering statistics open the plan:
    According to the 2022 Census,

    --- 2.5% of people aged 3years+ in #Scotland have some Gaelic language skills;

    --- there are 2,514 people w Gaelic skills in Dundee (1.7% of ppl 3y+; 1,073 in 2011).

  5. I asked in our local bookshop whether they had a #Gaelic #Gaidhlig book section.

    Member of staff helpfully dug out two language learning books. Not that I would not need them 😅 , but that was not what I was looking for.

    When I thanked them, another member of staff who had overheard our conversation came up and said that their shop was too small to have a "foreign languages" section.
