Alas: it is very likely the partying excesses of my generation which directly led to new #DUI laws being passed in the first place ( 2015 #England, 2019 #Scotland ) - unlike #alcohol where #driving impairment is obvious, with stimulant #partydrugs most people are safe on the roads after the peak of the drug has worn off but they are still awake/alert - what bites them in the arse is the comedown / sleep deprivation (there's even warnings about this in my books about motoring from the 1960s and 1970s!)
So if folk are staying high until Sunday evening, this hits during weekdays and can (and did) cause bad crashes during rush hours (which ofc often involve innocent parties) - hence the clampdowns (EU wide) as soon as there was enough evidence to prove what was happening.. >>

I am wary of online commenters on news sites, but I've been to enough #raves until late 00s (in both London/SE England and #EastAnglia to believe the one who pointed out #ravers were still on site by 18:00 Sunday).
This is the weak point (and allowed #Police to take action, confiscating the sound equipment and busting folk for #DUI) - a new shift of cops (with a lot of Specials) against knackered sleep deprived ravers are obviously going to win any confrontation..
In 90s/00s what happened more often is the rave wound down about 10:00-12:00 and everyone dispersed and cleared up the area - and old bill pretty much left crews and partyfolk alone to do that rather than get the next shift ready for heavy stuff, but with todays DUI laws that may not be possible >>

At present groups of neighbouring constabularies often share a Roads Policing Unit with various #ANPR capabilities - the local #Councils also have #ANPR schemes used for parking / bus lane enforcement, but these don't always share data and monitoring posts on car forums I've seen from serving #Police Officers they claim there's a lot of "red tape" to go through to get ANPR data, even within the RPU.
Most of the time its just used to catch those without vehicle #insurance, the leadfooted and those who are suspected of #DUI (especially #drugs use and/or using their vehicle for #transport as part of a drugs dealing network)
