If you want to use an AI assistant, @protonprivacy Lumo and DuckDuckGo https://duck.ai are better privacy respecting AI assistants. Lumo is E2EE all the way through, Proton doesn't see any of your chats, so they couldn't target ads even if they wanted to.

Hi all, does anyone know why some links redirect to the wrong place? For example, if I put the link below into DDG, it opens that page for an instant and then redirects and opens google.com. If I do the same in google, it redirects to aliexpress.com. This is not the only link doing this - has anyone else had this happen? I'm on a Macbook. Thanks!

So Ive used #DuckDuckGo #browser for a while. Not perfect but close enough for me.
One of the things I get mileage out of is what I call "bang" searches.
Ya put an exclamation point before a keyword and it does a digdown search.
!wiki thing for example. I just did !fedex tracking number and boom. Theres tons of keywords and if ya need it.. its prolly there.. which is kinda cool..

Guter Hinweis. Welche Suchmaschine empfehlt ihr eigentlich so? DDG fällt mir leider in dem Kontext negativ auf, weil sie anscheinend Anhang der Domain stark nach oben Ranken. Beispiel: pdfarranger[.]net ist als Scam Seite seit einer Weile bei den top Ergebnissen, obwohl ich die schon mehrfach gemeldet habe.
Brave ist in meiner Erfahrung besser was das angeht.

Ich verstehe die Mehrheit nicht, die nach wie vor die #GoogleSuche verwendet..Spätestens seit 2019 oder so Google absichtlich die Ergebnisse verschlechtert hat, damit man 2-3 Abfragen benötigt, weil sie damit die Werbeeinnahmen steigern konnten... 🙄
Nehmt doch einfach #DuckDuckGo oder #Startpage oder was Ähnliches.
@maxleibman This is the reason I tossed the #DuckDuckGo browser. It doesn't support plugins, so no ad-blockers. Don't care that it uses less memory and doesn't use a fork of Chrome or Firefox. I also blacklist sites that require ad-blockers disabled straight into /dev/null.

Here's a fun one. I just got a message that I thought was spam telling me my blog doesn't show up in #Bing search results (and any search engine that uses Bing like #DuckDuckGo and #Qwant (who totally do not have their own index)).
And... It's true. I have been deindexed?
So, as a temporary replacement for #Microsoft #Copilot, I'm using duck.ai from @duckduckgo for now, since I can no longer use Copilot in @Vivaldi. Unfortunately, I have to do without the synced conversations, but it's better than nothing for now. :thinkaboutit:

I was annoyed by the automatically generated "answers" to queries done through #DuckDuckGo. They were not useful for me and required computing time and resources every time. I was happy to discover that DuckDuckGo can be configured to not have any of that useless summaries:
Even if search queries still require resources and energy, at least I no longer see the automatically generated, not helpful summaries.
