#Disneyfriends for #Nintendods is surprisingly addictive comparble to #socialmedia. Or #tomagatchi games. This surprised me for an offline title when I randomly picked the game up physically out of curiosity.

For a few reasons this game seemed addictive. It wasn't that it was addictive but it had curious modern smartphone or live service game- like features.

1. Daily challenges you can do once per day. For certain Disney friends such as #stitch or Simba. Such as taking specific snapshots of varying scenarios daily.

2. There are events that you get notified to attend usually based on a specific date on the ds.

3. You are encouraged to pet, feed, "chat' with and other actions to earn guardianpoints to increase your guardian rank. You can only rank up so much a day but you can rank up more points per day when you unlock more Disney friends.

4. There are even certain challenges that you can do at anytime but you'll actually be forced to wait a few hours before you can replay it again. Such as the Simba bug eating race challenge. Some again you can only do once a day.

lego star wars the complete saga for the original ds is what you'd call a technical master piece.

If there was one game that imitated the Wii system version pretty well despite some cut content.

The game even has some types of light reflections. On the #dslite 's screen even on the lowest brightness it looks crisp.

While most of my ds titled are bound to be mini game or sport pack in (kinda like Wii Sports or Mario&S Olympic games, focused, just for content volume per game.

This game is for ds standards, one big game that focused on one gameplay concept.

I collected the minikits for all levels except the ds exclusive touch minigames.

So what do with the game now is occasionslly go back and replay some of the levels in free play using the stud multiplyers and collect studs gradually.

Bei #dslite wäre mein Anschluss tatsächlich ohne IPv6 völlig tot. So habe ich ja wenigstens noch "kastriertes" #IPv4, wenn ich aufgrund von #CGNAT ohne IPv6 auch nicht mehr von draußen in mein Heimnetz komme...☹️

After getting the #dslite I'm thinking of either getting a #Wii or a #ps3 or #Xbox360.

In an attempt to at least get a 1080p to 480p gaming experience for under 500$ in 2026.

There's a lot of speculation of console at risk going as high as $1000 such as #steamdeck and #ps6

Used games for old but recent consoles luckily remain reasonable in smaller physical dedicated gaming stores.

I think most people could live with a ps3 experience. Is it 4k? No. But I mean 1080p doesn't look terrible.

Steam I thought was the way to go but with those prices, whether online is free or not I don't care about that now. 700$ ish dollars for a portable device with a tiny screen. No way I'm evading Steam now twice as hard as the Switch 2.

Did Nintendo sway me to buy the $500 Switch 2? No. So steam lost my money and Nintendo continued to lose my money. Will the #gaming industry bother with a pricing fix for consumers?

Aber ja, mit #DSlite würde das Problem tatsächlich massiv auffallen, und die #DG könnte es nicht einfach ignorieren...

Ob es wirklich (spürbar) Kosten sparen würde, da bin ich mir nicht sicher. Denn das #CGN-Gateway muss ja weiterhin betrieben werden. Klar, Du hast nur einmal DHCP (für IPv6) zu betreiben, das interne Routing innnerhalb des ISP-Netzwerks muss nur für IPv6 konfiguriert sein, aber ob *das* jetzt wirklich groß was ausmacht? 🤔

Der "#Support" ist wie üblich ahnungs- und hilflos und schiebt das Problem auf den Kunden, weiß selbst grundlegende Fakten über das eigene Netz nicht ("Sie haben einen #DSlite Anschluss" -- nein, habe ich nicht!). Selbst die vorgelegten Netzwerk-Traces interessieren die nicht.

Mhhh 🤔 #disney+ scheint so gar nicht mit #vodafone #dslite zu funktionieren. Wie mich diese Vodafone 01001011 01100001 01100011 01101011 01100101 🤮 - Nicht nur das Disney nicht geht, auch meine Dienste sind nicht über öffentliche IP erreichbar. Dan musst ich #Scrubs halt auf dem Tablet über #magenta schauen.

#Vodafone #DSLite hat mir mal wieder ein Bein gestellt: Konnte von einem Standort eines Freundes meinen heimischen Server (Vodafone-Kabel, richtiger Dual Stack) via #WireGuard nur mit einem Bruchteil der Geschwindigkeit erreichen (ca. 3 Mbit/s). War über einen längeren Zeitraum konstant gleich beschissen. In umgekehrter Richtung war es bei Transfers ähnlich.

Tja, was hat geholfen? MTU auf 1300 setzen (war auf 1420 gesetzt). Immer dasselbe, ey! 😵‍💫 Hatten wir übrigens auch so mit #OpenVPN-Verbindungen auf der Arbeit von Dual-Stack-Lite-Anschlüssen wegen Home-Office. Aber da musste auch erst mal drauf kommen... denke vernünftiges Erreichbarkeit via #IPv6 hätte auch geholfen.

⚠️ Also: Habt ihr Internet via TV-Kabel (mit DS-Lite) und eure Netzverbindung lahmt oder ist unzuverlässig? Versucht es mit einer niedrigen MTU.

Anyone know if those DS Lite replacement touch screens on Amazon are any good? Mine is a little scratched but works quite well. At least now after setup it's running stable, but I've read a lot that the GIF/4in6 tunnel has issues coming up after reboot, so we shall see.
I believe to remember also having experienced such issues back then when I had it running with an HE Tunnelbroker 6in4 tunnel, which is kinda the same but reverse I guess.

Easter present for the kid: new case for the #Nintendo #DSlite. The old case had a broken hinge, plus the new one has a nice #Hokusai Kanagawa wave print (which the kid loves).
Fiddly business replacing the case on these! The tiny springs on the shoulder buttons really tested my patience! 😅

I had a really fun time last night. Visited a helpful individual who soldered a new trimmer potentiometer to my DS Lite to replace one that I accidentally scratched off. It was mesmerising to watch him work with all these neat little tools.

I need some hardware advice.

I recently re-assembled my DS Lite. The bottom screen flickers very slightly and has faint horizontal lines across it. It's not really visible at all except at certain illumination levels, like a black box with a bright background.

I tried disconnecting and re-connecting the screen three times in case I might have accidentally attached its ribbon cables wrong, but the slight problem persists. There are cheap replacements online for about 20 USD, although the reviews say they have bad electrical insulation and I should add some electrical tape to them.

What would you recommend I do?

Well at least if I can't move around much, I have plenty to keep me from getting bored. I fixed/rebuilt another DS Lite!

This was mostly leftover parts. One of the broken ones I got has this nice Pokemon case (reproduction, looks like someone tried to do a DIY case swap and fucked it up).

Anyway, I got a few more bits and did some dodgy repairs on a board that had also seen some bad times with a previous owner ... and it's now a complete and working console!
