Jetzt geht es ans Abtrainieren: kürzere Distanzen, mehr Pausen, weniger Einheiten pro Woche bis wir bei 2 km angekommen sind und das so stehen lassen können. Dann sieht der Hund erstmal ein paar Wochen kein Geschirr und das Sommerprogramm beginnt: Radeln, Schwimmen, Balance-Übungen und auch mal wieder an den Basics arbeiten. Diesmal werd ich es echt vermissen, das Tier vor nem Gefährt zu haben. 😊

Bestes Wetter heute zum Einspannen.Nochmal 4,5 km mit einer Pause vor dem letzten km. Zu Beginn reguliert, dann in Eigenleistung mit offener Bremse. Schwerer Boden zum Teil. Am Ende von der Kraft her nachlassend, daher die Pause. Und die letzten 500 m ging's mit Hilfe in Intervallen ins Ziel.

Ganz vergessen: Heute früh ging's für Ylvi und mich wieder in den Wald. 4 km insgesamt. 2 gebremst, 1 Min. Pause, 2 in Eigenleistung mit flottem "Zieleinlauf". Sie ist gut drauf und nach dem Training schnell wieder auf "Normaltemperatur". Morgen gehts für uns an die Müritz zum Trainingswochenende mit dem Verein @HauptstadtCanicross . 😊

So I picked up one of the Beaver Labs DS1 Astro cameras. They normally sell them with a 900mm refractor as a "Smart Telescope". It is not really, as it has no navigational or tracking abilities.
What it does have is a pretty decent sensor, and a live screen.
This does not put it in the same class as even a mid-range ZWO sensor, but it does have high levels of convenience.
As a test, I popped it onto my little 70mm Skywatcher Traveller, and targeted Jupiter.
To my surprise, even a single frame had enough detail to be able to see the bands in the clouds, once I cranked the exposure down enough.
I also took some video, so I'll try running that through Siril and see how it comes out.
This is still not a good planetary combination, but I'll get my ETX90 up and running again, and that should give me a decent image. For now, here is a dancing bear shot.

I hope @tRAJectory hasn't given up his support for Mastodon--he hasn't posted in almost a week--but over on Twitter he shared this chart showing just how much higher ACE2 binding and immune evasive is for #DS1. It is substantially higher for both than XBB.1.5, the current variant spreading in much of the US and Europe. Again, other factors impact a variant's fitness (or how it impacts acute or chronic illness), but with few getting new vaccine jabs in #ireland, this one could hit hard in March.

If it continues to grow at this pace, #DS1 will become predominant in Ireland right around St. Patrick's Day, a huge event for travel and crowds. Last year's St. Pat's caused #Ireland's 2nd-highest surge of hospitalizations of the #COVID19 pandemic. We could be more cautious as we wait to see what this new variant does, but instead, mass transit, pubs, and events are jammed with maskless people. Living with COVID means accepting illness, disabilities, and hospitalizations.

@corneliusroemer mentions the #COVID19 variant that is rising in #Ireland. #DS1 may or may not grow to be a significant issue in and outside the nation--we should know within a few weeks if growth persists. It has higher AC2 binding and immune evasion, but while those are important factors, they aren't the only ones that affect a variant's fitness. No need for alarm (yet) but I'm monitoring a variant's growth here in #Ireland (and so far, nowhere else.) There are too few sequences to sound any alarms, but #DS1 had a 41% weekly growth from Dec19 to Jan16. It'll take weeks to know if this variant will be a concern, but it's worth watching in Ireland for one big reason, St. Patrick's Day, which last year led to the 2nd-highest peak of hospitalizations of the #COVID19 pandemic. At the current rate. DS.1 may become predominant in late March.

#Ireland may have its own #COVID19 variant of interest, found almost nowhere else. It is the very early days and may disappear, but #DS1 (DS.1) seems to be growing rapidly (from 0.79% to 3.72% in a month.) WAY too early to worry about, but if growth continues, it'll get more attention in the coming month. The reason to watch it is that it's both very immune-evasive and has high ACE2 binding--higher for both than XBB.1.5!
