For the #SciArtSeptember prompt talon, I thought I would experiment with dry point on aluminum can! I’ve been thinking about using trash (or in this case something from the recycling bin) to make art. I cut open the pop can and made a flat rectangle of thin aluminum. I did a quick sketch based on photos of harpy eagle talons, then incised the drawing into the aluminum.

So here's the plan: I just started watching The Great Pottery Throwdown and for some reason I found it really moving. So I'm going to do some ceramics-themed drawings directly onto old CDs. The series will be called "Greatest Hits". (The third will be a Southwest-inspired design.)

Here's my study. I don't want to do all the details until I'm actually working on the CDs. And if I actually find some etching copper, even better.
