2026 Gamin Drum Corps Watch Party
With the 2026 drum corps season on the horizon, it's time for my Uncle Bruce and I to have our annual pre-season watch part. This year, the theme was high cam shows. While this limited our options, we still found plenty of shows we enjoy, especially as we normally watch multi-cam videos of these shows. This allowed us to catch some of the drill and visual effects we normally don't see during a close-up, with plenty of shows for us to watch in the future.https://medi-nerd.com/2026/05/25/2026-gamin-drum-corps-watch-party/

UPDATED 2026-07-06 – 2026 Drum Corps Season
My first drum corps season as publisher and owner of Drum Corps Planet. That's going to take some getting used to.
2014 Carolina Crown – Out Of This World
One of my Bluesky friends posted lyrics from Major Tom on my feed to celebrate the successful return of Artemis II from its mission around the moon. This reminded me of when Carolina Crown performed this song as part of their 2014 production, Out of This World.https://medi-nerd.com/2026/04/10/2014-carolina-crown-out-of-this-world/
Throwback Thursday – 2025 Santa Clara Vanguard
Once again, FloMarching comes through with an excellent Throwback Thursday video from last year's DCI World Championships. This time, it's the Santa Clara Vanguard and the closing section of their production, The aVANt GUARD. This show also marked the return of SCV to the Top 3 of DCI since 2019.https://medi-nerd.com/2026/03/19/throwback-thursday-2025-santa-clara-vanguard/
Throwback Thursday: 2025 Phantom Regiment
FloMarching threw up a clip from last season's Phantom Regiment performance for their Throwback Thursday, so I figured I'd go with the theme and post the photos I took of the corps last season.https://medi-nerd.com/2026/03/12/throwback-thursday-2025-phantom-regiment/
2023 Blue Stars – In-ABSINTHE-ia
Today, it was seeing the username @absintheofcolor.bsky.social on BlueSky which made me think of another play on "absinthe", the Blue Stars and their 2023 production, In-ABSINTHE-ia.https://medi-nerd.com/2026/02/24/2023-blue-stars-in-absinthe-ia/

We have an early Christmas present from Santa Clara Vanguard and Paul & Sandi Rennick as they've dropped the percussion only full run of their 2025 program, "The aVANt GUARD". Yesterday, WFYI, the Indianapolis public television station, released a video from their Across Indiana series covering the Drum Corps International World Championships which recently took place there. 12 Corps Of Christmas – 2012 Cadets
I was going to save this one for last. I mean, you can't get more Christmas-y than doing a show completely composed of Christmas music with the name "12.25", right? My plans changed when the Cadets dropped the entire 2012 show on their YouTube channel ON CHRISTM

12 Corps Of Christmas – 2012 Cadets
If you were a fan of drum corps when the Cadets announced they were doing a Christmas show, I'm betting you were skeptical about whether 12.25 would be too cheesy and/or whether the show would be a worthy follow-up to their 2011 championship show, Between Angels And Demons. I know I was one of those. After all, Christmas music in the summer? The only time I've cared about Christmas in July was when Great Lakes Brewing tapped their Christmas Ale each summer.
