  1. A heads up for my #kdrama friends on here.. Series 1 and 2 of the excellent #DrRomantic are leaving #Netflix on 22nd October so still time to watch them. One of the best medical drama I've ever seen - fantastic story and characters but must confess I skipped past a lot of the gruesome surgery!

    Dr. Romantic Season 2
    (2020 - Viki, 16 avg 1:10 eps)

Han Seok Kyu, as Master Kim, delivers another wonderful season where he seems to be the only senior doctor in S.K. with morals. I enjoyed this season more than the 1st. Set in a rural hospital with many trauma cases, it makes an intense training ground for doctors.

We get some great returning characters & new doctors with problems for Master Kim to help with. Although I would have liked to see a bit more character dev in the new doctors, I hope maybe the 3rd season was planned so we can see more dev. then?

The medical cases are interesting & we see so much of the procedures - sometimes I have to look away. The romances were nice, but all felt like they were just starting & we'll have to see how they work out next season.

  7. #LovestruckInTheCity #도시남녀의사랑법

I need to stop watching dramas with #JiChangWook because I can't help but binge them!

A light and funny #kdrama with the main couple meeting during a vacation. The other couples are interesting as well.
I particularly liked that the cold and distant person is the FL, a role typically played by the ML.

    The cast is absolutely fantastic. Other than Wookie #KimJiWon (#FightForMyWay ), #KimMinSeok #SoJooYeon (#DrRomantic ), #ChoiMinHo ❤️...

    Dr. Romantic
    (2016 Viki, 20 60min eps
*** Viki currently has a 21st eps. that answers some of those outstanding questions)

The "romantic" in the title refers to the romantic ideals of the lead doctor. There is still some romance, bromance, comedy, verbal sparring, & a few punches too. In 20+1 episodes you have time to see great character development, & agonize with them over ethical questions, & watch their characters be tested, & see them discover what being a doctor means.

The acting is wonderful. The side stories are good. The patient stories bring up so many medical dilemmas, which intertwine with the hospital staff's stories in unexpected ways.

While this wasn't a binge for me, it is an excellent drama. It’s no wonder there is talk of season 4. I will continue with season 2.

Glad to know that I’m not the only one with binging tendencies.

I had only seen Lee Jong Suk in “Romance is a Bonus Book” before. I’m thoroughly enjoying him in this character. Depending on the ending, I can see W becoming a rewatch favorite.

And yes, the Dr. Romantic kiss was *wow*, but I loved him falling asleep at their desks holding her hand…..

Now I am on to my next 3 dramas.

W: WOW! Loving this one! It’s a unique story and the actors are wonderful. Having to control a binge here. (on eps 9)

Dr. Romantic: My first medical drama & I’m loving it too. Again stellar acting and I’m finding it very different in a good way from American medical dramas. (on eps 7)

Mr. Queen: Just started this one, but so many LOL moments - hilarious! Can’t wait to watch more. (on eps 3)

  20. CW: Spoiler: Dr. Romantic s03e11 re: hyperkalemia (potassium)

Wow. #DrRomantic s03e11 “featured” (if we can call it that) a patient with #hyperkalemia.

The patient's heart stopped and they are trying to recover him.

Anyway, this is close to me because I once was a hypokalemic periodic paralysis (HPP; HKPP; HypoKPP) patient. In my case, I had very low potassium, and by the time I was rushed to the ER, my levels were too low (and paralysis was already in my upper body) the ER told us my heart is on the brink of stopping within the day.

The thing with potassium (K) is that if you are below or above normal levels, it can be [very] dangerous. In my case, hypoK, my muscles suddenly starts to get weak. When I experienced this weakness, I was in a mall, and my legs simply gave up. (Good thing I haven't reached the escalator yet…)

Here's a #trivia. #DidYouKnow that potassium is often used in dramas as a method to kill people? The target is injected with (pure?) a high dosage of potassium which results in the victim's heart stopping. That's hyperK, excessive potassium in their system.

There are many causes of hypoK and hyperK. It can be genetic, or it can be because of incorrect diet (the latter was the cause for my hypoKPP).

So, yeah, if you are reading this, you need to have a proper diet. Potassium is not something we should eat less or eat more “just to avoid getting sick”. It has to be within the normal range of our body.

(note: Doctors/experts, feel free to correct. I was only speaking from experience and what my doctors explains as well as what I've read after I recovered.)

  26. CW: (SPOILER) Initial feedback, premiere of Dr. Romantic season 3

Dr. Romantic initial feedback as of s03e01 (an ER / Hospital drama)

    1. It was a good idea, they sort-of “rebooted” the series in Season 02. The new couple is better suited for the series, and now they're back in Season 03.

    2. It's great to see they're continuing from Season 02, instead of starting a new story. Although 3 years have passed (same as in real-life = premiere year of the shows.)

    3. I like how they retained most of the characters/actors. Again, continuity.

    4. Back in Season 02, I was hoping they'll pick Lee Kyung Young in Season 03. YEAH THEY DID!

    5. Suspicion is correct! Lee Kyung Young's character is Cha Eun Jae's father. Hahaha. This was a very good decision, we need this kind of complex relationship, and it will add a lot of amazing conflicts.

And we all know, when Lee Kyung Young is in a show, 99% he's the antagonist, and it's going to be brutal. LOL!!!!

So, imagine her daughter is Dr. Cha Eun Jae, and he is also a rival of Master Kim. SUWEEEEETTT

    6. Great to see the latest in ER and medical tech. About time, especially in Korea, a country which excels in medical technologies.

    7. Great premiere episode 01, they did not jam every character immediately. It was a slow re-introduction. Also, I like how they immediately revealed the antagonist. That means, we're going to enjoy a hospital war very early.

Since it's this early, I can't imagine what twists and turns they are going to introduce. After all, it shouldn't be a rehash of any conflicts they used in Season 1 and 2, otherwise it would be boring.

    Great premiere, I love it. I can't wait for tonight's episode 02!

LOL!!!!
