  1. THEORETICAL NUTRITION STACK FOR DRONE PILOTS + CASES

    ---

    1. Base Nutrition (Foundation)

Principle: stable glucose = stable precision

    Case:
Pilot consumes sugar + an energy drink before a session → 30–60 min later: drop in focus, twitchy stick input.
Alternative: complex carbs + protein (rice/buckwheat + meat) → steady state for 2–3 hours, no crashes.

    ---

    2. Micronutrients

Principle: the nervous system is electrochemical

    Case:
Magnesium deficiency → micro-tremor, hard to hold a steady hover.
After normalizing Mg + B-complex → cleaner movements, fewer parasitic corrections.

    ---

    3. Cognitive Enhancers

Principle: stimulation without loss of control

    Case:
150–200 mg caffeine alone → faster reactions but overcontrol.
Caffeine + L-theanine → speed preserved, less jitter, smoother trajectories.

    ---

    4. Hydration

Principle: even mild dehydration degrades cognition

    Case:
2–3 hours without water → slower reactions, distance misjudgment.
After water + electrolytes → “sense of space” returns quickly.

    ---

    5. Timing

Principle: when you eat = how you control

    Case:
Heavy meal right before flight → drowsiness, “soft” control.
Light meal ~40 min prior → stable attention, normal response.

    ---

    6. Anti-Tremor

Principle: control = minimal noise in the CNS

    Case:
After 2 energy drinks → tremor, hard to hold stick center.
    Reduced stimulants + magnesium → stable micro-movements.

    ---

    7. Sleep

    Principle: sleep debt kills precision

    Case:
4–5 hours sleep → reaction seems okay, but constant small errors.
8 hours → “locked-in feel,” fewer corrections, clean lines.

    ---

    8. What to Avoid

    Principle: aggressive stimulation breaks micro-control

    Case:
Random “nootropic stack” → chaotic state, unstable focus.
    Minimalist stack → predictable performance.

    ---

    Conclusion

    Stability > stimulation

Pilot precision comes from a stable nervous system, not spikes.

  3. New thing yesterday. Drone club.

I won't be going to this particular one again. I won't name and shame but despite being "open to all" it turned out very cliquey and unless you had a ££££ FPV racing drone you had very little flying time or attention directed your way.

Amusingly, one of the committee who unloaded a £3,000 drone out of a £1,000 car sneered at my choice of device, meanwhile I loaded a £500 drone out of a £50,000 van. Yeah let's talk about poor choices eh? Also, laughing cos I've got a DJI Neo as a cool vlogging drone is just an insult.

Sorry that's not my way, using financial status as an insult; I am the sort of person who does not judge a person by their worth but by their value as a human.

Finally, calling me "leatherman" rather than my real name was a bit insulting. I'm on the committee of a well respected charity and I learn the names of prospective members! Yes I wear leather, but I'm also bald, pierced, and a tiny bit scary to look at. Would you call someone who was a little bit camp "poofter" because I got the feeling you would.

I wonder if they'll reach out when I don't go back?

I'll definitely point them at this Fediverse post when they do.

So in essence; the local drone club? A bit shite.

I've got another one to try in a couple of weeks. Let's see how that goes eh?

  4. My Antigravity A1 arrived Dec 9th (ordered Dec 4th)! Batteries charging, then FAA registration & 40-min firmware update. 70mph winds in Cheyenne mean waiting to fly, but I'm pumped to create 3D Gaussian splats with the 360° camera. What should I capture first? Until next flight, stay safe and fly often! #AntigravityA1 #DronePilot #AerialPhotography #360Camera #DroneLife #NewDroneDay #3DGaussianSplat #WyomingDrones

  7. Completed the required ground school this week, and tonight I wrote and passed my Level 1 Complex Operations drone licence examination. Next step is a flight review sometime after November 5th. #BVLOF #DronePilot

  8. Recently ordered last year's DJI Air 3 model (not the 3s) with the intention of using drone footage in some of my YouTube running videos.

Debating on taking it with on vacay to the Dominican Republic in a couple weeks. I'd love to hear other people's adventures and misadventures traveling with drones.

    The sillier the better.

  13. Bit of a long shot here, any drone crew in Lancaster area with a thermal rig that could help look for a missing dog in Over Kellet?

Way out of our area sadly, and we don't fly a thermal at present.

PM me if you can help and will pass on contact.

  14. Well, it's over mid-way through October. That means I have almost 6 months to get my ass and brain in gear for my #drone pilot licence.

I have one that is just under the required to get the licence weight limit, but will be going with an FPV drone come the spring.

So, putting this out here for my fellow #canadian #dronepilot #canadiandronepilot folks - any reputable resources you recommend to study for the epic ass test?
