#Driving #DrivingTest #Car #Student
My driving instructor (way back in 1996…) asked every student the same question before he even started having practice driving lessons with that student, and the question was…
"How do you enter a car?"I won't give away the correct answer (yet) but I'm interested in what you think it is.
Let me know!

Best practice examples from the emergency services!‼️ 🚑
https://youtube.com/shorts/ZLy4bG-WvsA?is=ZLzWxY5i6UOkICKJ
I really enjoy watching these kinds of emergency response videos, whether they’re from the fire brigade, an ambulance or the police, and I’m always delighted to see German motorists making proper way for emergency vehicles with their blue lights on by forming that emergency corridor. 🤩
It’s good to know that forming an emergency corridor is an essential part of driving test training in Germany. 😃

Revealed: The 10 road signs learner drivers are most likely to be quizzed on
Researchers used the DVSA’s Safe Driving for Life e‑learning platform to run thousands of mock tests, analysing which questions came up most frequently. The results show a clear pattern of signs that learners are repeatedly asked to identify.
Below are the 10 most‑asked road signs — with answers moved further down the page to keep the challenge real.
1.
A red triangle with a bicycle symbol.

Mattijs Wijnmalen, CEO of Vignetteswitzerland.com, said:
“Across the 3,000 mock tests we ran, we found that users were significantly more likely to be asked about certain road signs than others. For example, users were asked to correctly identify the ‘cycle route ahead’ sign nearly twice as often as any other question.”
He added that while learners should know all road signs, these ten are well worth revising before sitting the real test.
Answers: Most‑asked road signs
1. Cycle route ahead
– Warns road users that there is a cycle route crossing or joining the road ahead.2. With‑flow cycle lane
– Notifies road users of a dedicated cycle lane that goes in the same direction as the traffic.3. Route for pedestrians and cyclists
– Notifies road users of a shared path for both pedestrians and cyclists.4. End of minimum speed
– Notifies road users that the mandatory minimum speed limit shown has ended.5. End of controlled parking zone
– Notifies road users that specific parking restrictions, such as permits or pay and display, no longer apply beyond this point.6. Stop
– Tells road users to come to a complete stop before proceeding.7. Quayside or river bank
– Warns road users of a sharp edge where the road meets water ahead.8. Vehicles may park fully on the verge or footway

Wish I could console my ASD person. They’ve failed their driving test for the second time. They’re an able driver, since obtaining an automatic, but the stress of being tested by a stranger… 😱
Apparently in the feedback the examiner said that generally they were a “good driver”. 🤷🏻♀️
And then there’s the problem of obtaining another test. It’s looking like May unless someone cancels and they happen to check at the ‘right’ time. Then we’ll have the stressful build up all over again. #DrivingTest

Took my 18 yr old granddaughter to her driving test in Carmarthen yesterday. While she was reversing into a parking bay clearly designated for test candidates, some old duffer come running up to tell us we couldn't park there because he had testee due back and she'd need to park there.
I pointed out that these are test centre spaces and my GD was there for her test, but this guy insisted the space had to be kept for his testee...

This isn't a proper comparison of NZ's #DrivingTest to other countries.
In the Netherlands peeps must go through a process of X practical lessons from an qualified driving instructor; need to pass a theoretical and practical exam.
And master these special manoeuvres:
* Reversing in a straight line
* Reversing in a bend
* Parking in a square or diagonal space
* Parking in a line of cars
* Reversing by crossing over
* Reversing by half a turn
* Slope test -
Got another old #motoring book, a #drivers #education book published by the #Autocar magazine apparently from 1942, although it doesn't mention wartime conditions (other editions of this book do).
There wasn't even a #DrivingTest - whilst this was introduced in 1935, it was suspended when war broke out in 1939 and not reintroduced until 1946! #Cars weren't as easy to drive, ignition timing and idle speed had to be adjusted at the steering wheel to avoid stalling or racing the engine in neutral

Just went for a Driving License test at the Gurugram RTO. Haven't been more apprehensive of any test than I was this morning- including the exams I cleared for the three-letter engineering and management institutes. The test per-se was quite well designed - it did really test a persons driving skill and, I reckon, had a 40-50% pass rate. That's low but is indicative of our driving skills in general, IMO. More relieved than happy to have made it through.
