So many cool references in this article. The Matrix, Inception, Dream Scenario, Minority Report, the psychedelic cults of California... If only we had a simple category label to tie all these things together. 🤔
As is clearly the case with #cyberpunk, one has to remember that every cool piece of #dreampunk tech is bound to be used against us by our capitalist overlords, but it may still have value if treated with due caution. And that includes psychoactive chemicals, which were (and I assume continue to be) a major part of government-funded mind control but also fueled the countercultural revolution of the 1960s.

#3GoodThings for today:
1. The manuscript for my multi-author #dreampunk collection #SOMNISCOPE is finally complete, including a frame story tying everything together!
2. The town I live in right now (Bryan, Texas) has a really nice selection of gluten-free baked goods. (I just ate a next-level chocolate chip cookie from Muriel's GF Bakery.)
3. Final edits are just about wrapped up for my debut #novella #DRECK, which is coming out really soon.

@ancient_catbus Thanks! Right now I'm looking for bands that are actually calling themselves "dreampunk." This is what I did a few years back with indie authors using the term, and the results were pretty awesome. The second #dreampunk anthology #Somniscope will be coming out later this year.

Today would have been the 94th birthday of visionary #SF author #PhilipKDick. He passed beyond the veil way back in 1982, far too soon. This portrait was done by a distinctive talent by the name of #BrentHouzenga without the aid of any sort of AI, using actual hands and paint and such! I met Brent at a #PKDFestival in Colorado, where Phil is buried. He later put together the cover art for #SOMNISCOPE, an upcoming #dreampunk anthology. So anyway, happy birthday, Phil! You are missed. #scifi #art

I'm a #JavaScript developer by day and a #fiction writer/editor by night (mostly #SF, #dreampunk in particular). I have a master's in #linguistics and taught in #Japan for a while. I love #art, #cooking, etc.
