  1. Thought it was funny that the one thing I keep organized are my drawing bags. You should show your kit too :)

First photo is my very portable and lazy dry drawing kit. Full of brush pens. Second photo is my ink painting kit.
Not pictured are my calligraphy brushes that are drying right now.

  5. More experiments with #Krita. I have now tried the vector tools too but they're so limited that I can't see it being more than a useful input method for images finally assembled elsewhere. (This one's imported to Photoshop for text and tidying up the lighting.)

  10. Trying #Krita for black & white cartoons.

I've been thinking for a while I should redraw my "Androgynes are from Earth" #cartoon from c.2006, since I lost the original files in a computer malfunction not long after. So here it is, from memory though slightly tweaked. This is probably about ten times the resolution, but retains some of the rough appearance. The sort of thing we used to do for bog-standard printing in #zines .

  15. #Krita for the built environment ... I have worked out a few of the problems, but several remain. Things keep happening unexpectedly, though part of that is probably down to stylus/pad sensitivity issues. Switching between brushes in particular doesn't seem to be consistent. And making new brushes is so much harder than in Photoshop. 😞

  17. Well, after a bit of other experiment I went back to trying out #Krita, learned a bit more, and I think I'm getting to grips. In the absence of better text handling it's not going to be the main platform but for basic drawing purposes it might be useful.

(Caveat: I haven't tried the vector tools yet.)

(I gave myself a bit more room to draw feet, and decided that the pole thing was a hoe, as it's probably the only context in which I could sensibly draw bare feet.)

  22. Happy first day of 2025, #FediFriends!

May I start this year by appealing to your collective wisdom? Can you recommend a small (a little larger than US letter or A4) desktop drawing board? Ideally, I’m looking for something slightly multi-purpose where I can rest both a sketchbook or a digital drawing tablet. Your boosts and advice will be highly appreciated :blobfoxartist: :blobfoxmlem:

  27. You need to draw/paint something but you temporarily don’t have access to your favorite app? Fear not - there’s kleki.com/ that works in pretty much and modem web browser (and it’s free)!
