The next #RetroGame up on our VODs is one that, while we didn'take much headway here, we won't be seeing the last of. I've been wanting to play the Nier series of games and once I found out that Drakengard of all things relates to it, a game I remember from my childhood for reasons that I won't spoil here although I regret to inform won't be shown for a while now, I knew I had to start down this long and winding road.
It starts off like an odd, clunky Musou clone, but honestly comes into its own with the dragon fights and just plain outlandish endings. We'll definitely be back for this one.

#NierReplicant music fucking slaps so hard, it gives me so much emotion for an otherwise emotionless person 😭
It's also why I LOVED and ENJOYED #NierAutomata so much. The lore, music, characters are all just incredibly moving and impactful - plus the really, outstandingly smooth gameplay (smooth as in combat and even something as simple as movement all feels like one beautiful intuitive, dancing motion) just makes their games so perfect.
The only critic I have for Replicant is just how extremely grindy the side quests are, I never experienced that with Automata where every quests and side quests feel so rewarding - but I don't mind it, I'm loving every moment spent prolonging my hours playing the game cos once I'm done with Replicant, I've no other #Nier games to play until they release a new one :')
As far as I'm aware, prior to these games they also have the #Drakengard series which I think is somewhat related?? but idk how playable they'd be for me cos I generally don't have a good time playing old games due to how clunky they tend feel for modern standards (except for #HideoKojima games somehow???). I tried playing the first Drakengard on PS2, I think, and gosh I was suffering thruout the entire intro to even consider continuing that playthrough.

Конечно, резкий удар в спину со стороны драконихи без контекста выглядит максимально тупо, но в связке с рутом A звучит логично. Х. его з., почему это не проговорили напрямую.

Первый проект Йоко Таро, в плане геймплея копирующий Dynasty Warriors и почему-то Ace Combat. Наземные миссии местами затянутые, дальность прорисовки и дизайн арен (местами отсутствующий) удручают. Летные миссии поначалу трудные из-за управления, но потом начинает приносить удовольствие. Одна дуэль с драконом чего стоит (надо как-нибудь наложить что-нибудь из Metal Gear Rising).
По сюжету психологический mindfuck с серой моралью, не гнушающийся повествования в стиле "сдохли все". Концовка, тем не менее, получилась вполне обнадеживающей, мне стало очень даже жа--
