This week's #comic ponders if the attack on #dragqueenstorytime really matters or it's a diversion from something else. The archive can be found at https://www.stanyan.me/comic-strip/lmoe for now.

It is quite insane (and now commonplace) the rate at which #TheOrangeMenace and the #GOP keep passing laws to prevent things THAT AREN'T HAPPENING from happening, while ignoring ACTUAL threats.Laws to stop "#Trans Athletes" or "#DragQueenStoryTime" to protect kids, but doing NOTHING to stop gun violence in schools.
He is so POSITIVE the 2020 Election was "stolen" (despite ZERO proof) that they are passing laws left & right to make sure it never happens again. #DystopianNightmare

the #tryguys hosted a #dragqueenstorytime fundraiser over the weekend. most of us (fans) are openly supportive. the guys have tried drag, eugene is a drag performer, they've had drag queens on the channel many times. but some people in the comments are against it, and some are using camouflage language like, "i'm bi and i'm just worried about kids."
is this a thing? no. kids are not endangered by these events at all. and if you're saying that, you're helping the queerphobic right wing.

This is equity and being an ally.
"Toronto’s public school board is no longer seeking parental permission for students to attend drag queen storytime events after parents at an elementary school raised concerns that the consent form implied the Pride activity was different from other in-school performances and posed some sort of risk to kids."

Sharing this here so it gets out. Fash in the Portland area are targeting a drag story time at a library in Tigard, Oregon on June 11th. Please share this widely, especially if you are in the Portland area. Boost boost!
UPDATE: the library has cancelled the event and chosen to close the entire library for the day. Unfortunately, this counts as a victory for the fash. I understand the fear, I truly do, but we cannot let them scare us into hiding, this is not the way! We stand up to hate, being scared into hiding only shows that violent posturing is an effective tactic for them. They've been given what they want, no drag story hour, and now no community library for the whole day. Libraries are hubs of services that are vital to many people.

Katie Mettler: A D.C. drag event feared Proud Boy crashers. Residents came to defend it. About 200 #LGBTQ advocates, allies and others lined the street outside Crazy Aunt Helen’s, a Capitol Hill restaurant, to protect the Drag Storytime event happening inside
"Advocates, allies and area residents, organized by the group Parasol Patrol, had shown up in droves to ward them off. The Proud Boys’ presence had been almost undetectable — though some on Eighth Street reported seeing people in the vicinity wearing the group’s signature black-and-yellow garb. There were no confrontations."

Community Defends Drag Story Time in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
"Community members in Sault Ste. Marie mobilized after an apparently small but far-right “Unity Centre” group publicized plans to protest a Drag Queen Story Hour event. ... They were met by a much larger crowd of Drag Queen Story Time supporters who protested in front of the library, denying that space to the far right."

You've got to hear this: Drag Queen and highly-respected #LGBT elder Connie Smudge after reading for #DragQueenStoryTime Jan 14 at the @CoqLibrary.
Radicalized extreme-right agitators tried to stop her using hatred, intimidation, and defamation. They failed spectacularly.

Please share this. Right-wing transphobic talking points have real-life consequences.
A pub in #Renton -- just outside #Seattle -- was SHOT AT today, days before its regular drag queen story time was going to be protested by a group of right-wingers.
The right-wingers (believed to include iii%ers) say they're cancelling their protest. No word from the counterprotester organizers (who include at least one city council member).
