Terrain for a #DragonRampant #LordOfTheRings miniatures #wargame for a con in Oct. 54mm orcs with bonfire and chopped tree stumps in front of my “roving” tree terrain (with unexpected menacing guest looming nearby). Uses the “flickering tea light in painted batting smoke” trick. -
Used and abused #rotfly #plaguebearer from the local shop on sale. Luckily I had some spare sword hands from my previous plaguebearers. I don’t know much about them in game, I’ll use it as some sort of champion in #xenosrampant and #DragonRampant

I’ve sat on some second-hand LotR figures for years. My daughter’s boyfriend (who likes gaming and LotR) will be visiting for Thanksgiving so I’m rushing to get some up to speed for #DragonRampant

#DragonRampant version 2 is now out. I don't have the rules yet but a friend does. So, to ease us into the new version, a 'small' 3vs3 game was setup by them. This was once more set in non-canonical #MiddleEarth.
The forces of Mordor didn't have a great time of it, the new 'big unit' rules not having as much effect as expected; but the ability to teleport elephants did amuse the Dark Lord.
There are a notable changes in this edition in terms of special abilities and optional rules. Some of the options give a more mass battle feel to it.

An excellent game of Dragon Rampant with Ed (fellow HATE warlord) where our miniatures and randomly generated scenario meant I was Isildur, last and final king of Gondor. Dramatic changes to history meant that Ulbog the iron hearted recovered the One Ring and fully restored Sauron 2000 years ahead of schedule. Whoopsie.

We had a game of Dragon Rampant, fighting over the Sacred Mole. It was my Knigths of Furyondy, against the Wizards and Lizards. This time it was a tight game, and we were both down to a single unit at the end.

A friend put on their now traditional winter 'snowy' game last week. Ironically, this had been put off for a week due to real-life snow.
A non-canonical game set in #MiddleEarth and using a heavily modified version of #DragonRampant. It was just an excuse to get most of their miniatures and buildings on the table!
A big siege with just about everyone turning up at some point. Orcs and Trolls launched the initial assault, with the Witch-King leading from the front. The real Gandalf seemed to be missing, and his 'stunt double' was useless when trying to cast spells.
It was back and forth on the Walls and Keep, but it looked like Sauron had the upper hand at the end of the game, as a new wave of Easterlings reached the walls.

Played a game of Dragon Rampant, a 28mm fantasy wargame. I used some of my Wargods of Ægyptus figures, and they were up against some 1980s Elven Wardancers.

A very atmospheric game of #dragonrampant #lordoftherings with this visiting character at the club last might. He didn't munchkin once.

This must be one of the quickest purchase to actual play I've ever had for a wargame. We played Dragon Rampant on Friday, a four player game, with two sides fighting over ownership of a sacred mole.
Unusually, it was an event that united the goblins and dwarves together in defence of their mountain homes. Their opponents where human knights who were trying to steal the object of desire.
It turns out that these are a really quick set of rules.

They are OK looking but a bit small. Well they are 1/72 scale, which is basically original 25mm scale without the scale creep, and they are goblins. Still usable for #dnd most likely. I want to use them as #DragonRampant units as well. (I have a small project to make multiple 1/72 armies for that).
The main point for them is of course their price (7-9 eur), unfortunately the manufacturer might be on the outs. The place where I got them hasn't gotten new deliveries from them in 2 years.
