The Dragon Age: The Veilguard OST has this big name attached to it. Yet here I am sitting, emotionally frozen to death. While Trevor Morris's OST teleports your mind to the moments in the game, Hans Zimmer's OST is like ... bleh. Yeah, it's nice to listen to, sure. But it's not the same as hearing King Cailan shout "FOR FERELDEN" when the transition of 'Ferelden at War' plays. It's not my brain starting the crying process when hearing the first notes of 'The Lost Elf' theme. Or hearing Solas's speech during the cutscene when 'Journey To Skyhold' plays. Getting goosebumps during In 'Hushed Whispers.'

Instead I'm listening to 'One Battle At A Time' and I'm like "Uhm, is this Firefly or Dragon Age?"

It's a shame, really.

Silva was resting on the narrow cot pushed against the wall. At least Silva had noticed when he entered. Neve was lost in her own world. He did not mind waiting for her to notice. In fact, he was coming to enjoy these moments when she was unaware of him. It was peaceful, quiet. And Silva being here meant he was not intruding. This might be a normal he could learn to accept.

Lucanis came back into himself with a rush that almost eclipsed the circumstances he suddenly found himself in. He was face down in the sink with a large strong hand holding the back of his neck. Water poured from the spout next to his head and his wet hair hung in a sad curtain around him. He could hear shouting and the foul taste of something bitter but flowery on his tongue.

“Qué?!”

“Spit it out, Spite! You can’t eat soap!” Taash’s voice was frantic and loud. That explained the hand on his neck. And the taste in his mouth.

As part of the #Qun as the game lets you be. Wonder how much time is lost on tying the dar-saam every morning 🤔.

I do love how you can go back and keep editing the colour of the metal on your horns every time you have a new outfit to ensure it matches.

Alright, I'll calm down about this game soon. I'm just in a flow with it, you know? Despite it's flaws, the game deserves more love than it got.

I had almost forgotten from my first playtrough: the further you get in this game, the better it gets and the more #DragonAge feelings return. Just got back from the deep roads and now busy with Weisshaupt.

Only kinda sad there isn't much #Qunari themed armour. Only the Antaam Binding later afaik. Think of the Qun what you will, but they got cool style (and lore) 😎.

And yes, I'm too lazy for proper screenshots.

Playing #DragonAgeTheVeilguard on #SteamDeck now, made a new save.

I do still feel it doesn't feel like a #DragonAge game, and so I get it's a letdown for some. But I also still think it's a good game and quite enjoyable if you can let that part go and see it on it's own.

And the new living blight does look kinda cool :blobcatsunglasses: !

Partially onboard with #LegendaryDrops, nobody wanted #TheVeilguard.

The problem? RPGs live or die by its writing and this was the biggest issue. #DragonAgeTheVeilguard failed at its core and nothing could salvage it.

Very glad the game bombed. It left space for other, better games in the market.

Sad that some lost their job and did nothing wrong. Those who wrote pulling a barve? Fuck em, put the fries in the fucking bag.

The flow of the combat is probably my biggest surprise in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. I'm playing as a rogue on hard difficulty. The screen is full of colors and effects, and I wonder how everything works so well. Well, it communicates perfectly. There's color coding and audio cues, and enemy attacks and weaknesses are always readable. It's an incredibly good combat system, I love it!

Every region in Dragon Age: The Veilguard has its own magnificent vistas. They always make me stop and look off into the distance. I also like the variety, each region feels like a different place, yet the art design is cohesive and makes it feel like they all belong to the same world. It’s a beautiful game.

I love the dragon fights in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. They play almost like boss fights in Soulslikes, pretty hard, multiple phases. I think I was brutally underleveled for that fight, so it took me 20 minutes or more and I was running around in circles a lot. But it was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I really like the level structure in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. It's a mix of linear levels and small open worlds that are a reasonable size, offer a good amount of exploration, and are rich in variety. Important events are linked by Varric's narration, accompanied by a lovely animation.
