Just finished Dragon Age Origins. Not recommended.
Phenomenal character writing is all that is on offer here; miserable combat and laborious, repetitive quests left me speedhacking my way through just to see the ending.

When you let Anders defend the Keep while your Warden goes to Amaranthine, the general timeline makes a bit more sense, since Nathaniel mentions Anders being *dead*. Just how did that Justice thing work then, because I most definitely had Justice with my Warden to defend Amaranthine.
The timeline between DA:O and DA2 is a mess.
And we are done with Dragon Age: Origins and its DLCs. Next stop: Dragon Age 2.
Could someone remind me if there are special dialogue options when you play through Witch Hunt with a Mahariel? My brain can't remember. 🙈

Since I had my Warden slay the archdemon without agreeing to Morrigan's deal, I figured I can skip Witch Hunt and Awakening, because those would just retcon the Warden's sacrifice and I didn't feel like making a new character for those. And it hasn't been that long since the last time I played those, so I can move on to DA2.
I'm still trying to play the games the way I feel like instead of trying to make the best possible outcomes for everything. Variety and all that, you know.
So DA2 just got installed, I'm off to start that!

I’m in Orzammar now, and wiped out Jarvia’s carta. I got to the jail room and remembered that one of the other origin characters you can choose from is found in one of the cells.
While I’m sure his fate is implied to happen to all the other origins, it would had been interesting to come across all of them. You do meet NPCs connected to them, but it would had been a nice touch if there was something the chosen player character could do, which then could affect the fates of the ones that weren’t chosen in some positive way.

I like to change party members each playthrough. This time I’m going with Leli, Sten and Zev.
Why?
Because I have never had this combination before. I get brand new party banter!

Time to progress this one. I’ve decided to just play and pick and choose whichever dialogue option I feel fits this character I started this game before I went off to play the Arkham games.
So far Sten likes me the most 😄
I’ll try not to go for the best possible option each time, that was what I did usually in previous runs.
I sort of accidentally ended up going to Redcliffe, I think. But that’s okay, I’ve already done the most boring part (the Circle tower sequence that is always the same) so the rest is more fun.

Well, this was new. I always wondered what this was, but only now did I figure to go to the x’s on the map to check them, because in previous playthroughs I thought the x’s were the trail spots I’d already found 😅
Now I properly went to each spot and yeah, I had never finished finding the trail spots.
I knew that camp fire nook had a reason to be there, not to just house some invisible darkspawn rogues.

I decided to do a human male mage run this time. I am now going through the voice options and… I do recognise some of these instantly, but some I have to look up.
Sten’s voice actor, Mark Hilderth, is also the wise human male voice.
Cocky human male voice is by Ken Lally, who does more random NPC voices, like guards, bandits and tranquil.
Experienced human male is obviously Robin Sachs, who I remember the best as Zaeed from Mass Effect (he’s also appeared in many Star Trek series, Babylon 5 and Buffy).
Mystical human male is Gideon Emery, better known to me as Fenris from DA2.
Suave human male is Desmond Askew. He’s Jowan in this game. I knew I recognised his voice.
Violent human male shocked me. That’s Timothy Watson, also known as Bann Teagan! Also Gamlen Amell in DA2.
Now I saw the character’s last name. I mean my playable character’s. Amell. So… the mage origin is related to Hawke. Huh. That never occurred to me before.
And I have done a human mage run before. 🤦🏻

How does he manage to make him sound like that, but in Mass Effect male Shep sounds so bland and boring? Like that’s really the only reason I prefer playing fem Shep.
