Die Drachenschlucht ("Dragon's Gorge") is a two mile long path between Eisenach and the Wartburg. The wooded path runs down into the gorge, at times with only a meter between the walls, then back up to the castle entrance. According to legend a fierce dragon once lived in the gorge. Eisenach's coat of arms displays St. George, who slew the dragon.
