Congratulations! Lisa Zeßner, recent graduate of the IMPRS for Solar System Science, has won the 2025 AEF/DPG-EP prize for the best talk at the DPG Spring Conference in Göttingen. In her talk she presented the results of her doctoral research on "Comprehensive simulations of solar prominences".

Congratulations! Aswathi Krishnan Kutty, doctoral researcher of the IMPRS for Solar System Science, has won the 2025 AEF/DPG-EP prize for the best poster at the DPG Spring Conference in Göttingen. The City of Göttingen is now an EPS Historic Site!
In this "International Year of Quantum Science and Technology" 2025, the European Physical Society honours the City of Göttingen with the title "EPS Historic Site". Quantum mechanics was founded 100 years ago in Göttingen.
Earlier in tonight's ongoing live stream of the award ceremony (in English, on Youtube, link see below), the memorial plaque that will be on display in front of the Forum Wissen on Bürgerstraße has been revealed, with a QR Code that will point visitors to the "Quantum History Wall".

Die Verleihung erfolgt im Kontext des Jahres 2025 als "Internationales Jahr der Quantenwissenschaft und -technologie", ausgerufen von der UN-Generalversammlung. Die Quantenmechanik wurde vor 100 Jahren in Göttingen begründet. Unter diesem Eindruck findet aktuell auch die DPG-Frühjahrstagung in Göttingen statt #DPGGOE25

As part of his talk, Sami K. Solanki reminds the #DPGGOE25 audience that among the two physical effects used to measure magnetic fields in the #Sun, the Hanle effect and the Zeeman effect, the Hanle effect was discovered 101 years ago in #Göttingen, as part of the period of discoveries in quantum mechanics that the #quantumyear2025 is currently celebrating.
He dedicates another part of the talk to the @sunrise3 mission, on which there will also be a more in-depth talk later in the week again:
