Thanks to @jon and @bovine3dom , my #DP3 will not just be a unique DP1 "Booking a round trip to the Rosetta User Group meeting in Munich"!!
-
Time to crawl out of my self-pity-pit.
Let's highlight 3 of the things I'll be working on today in my usual digipres worklife by day #dp3 :1. Meeting with NFDI WG LTA standards subgroup to discuss possibility of digipres recommendations for @NFDI
2. Weekly strategic catchup meeting on LiLA.nds - a 5 year project in which we're setting up digipres services for 30 institutions in the german state of lower saxony
3. attend OPF's "The ODF Validator has arrived!" webinar
-
looking back, my #dp3 today:
* solved a storage rule routing issue in our DEV environment
* discussed data quality metrics with @BertrandCaron & EOSC EDEN colleagues by
* gave a student a list of recommendations for German digipres institutions to contact for his thesis project -
haven't done this in a while .. looking back, my #dp3 today (which i could easily extend to a #dp30 so i'm just picking the most memorable):
* heated argument with project partners about need / no need to discuss in great detail the differences between digital curation and digital preservation
* #ipres2026 Papers & Panels co-chair meeting
* summarized a short survey we ran on risk identification within the Rosetta Users' Digital Preservation Working Group -
Today's #dp3 unfortunately must prioritise some non-core work that's rather urgent:
1. Prep for discussion in PM. Trying to get another team to contribute funds to an event we are organising but they benefit from.
2. Process and submit appraisals from old role so hopefully will be approved by end Jun, when my double-hating ends.
3. Research in order to articulate technical constraints in scaling up #SocialMediaArchiving
-
1. Make some progress on appraisals this morning, but don’t spend too much time on them. Maybe 30-45min.
2. The rest of the morning, draw some recommendations from lit review I did to decide if I have enough.
3. In the PM, finish up selection of social media accounts to approach for collection.
4. Later, when brain starts to get foggy and distracted, induction admin and start looking at caterers for event in early August.
-
Today’s #dp3:
1. Follow up on appraisals that I’m still working to complete as part of an agreement between my old and new bosses. Want to get them done by end June.
2. Review my findings so far re: social medial lit review I was tasked to do. Very vague assignment so I think I need to look at what I have and decide on some concrete deliverables on my own.
3. Some admin still to do regarding my transfer.
-
I’m wondering whether the #dp3 hashtag really still makes sense, as I think my work now qualifies as digipres only insofar as it has long-term access as one of its priorities… Nevertheless, going to keep using it until i think of something better…
-
My #dp3 for today:
1) Completing some @ipres2025 reviews
2) Writing a couple of training modules
3) Attending an RLUK webinar from the BL team on sustainability
-
Busy day today. Today’s #dp3:
1. Come up with deck of slides in prep for key meeting on Friday where I’m kicking off planning for a major event in August.
2. If there is time, review book titles which we will be sending to partners as part of regular exchange.
3. Reply email to counterpart in another institution
-
Have a bit of uninterrupted time today (🤞🏼), so for my #dp3:
1. Continue my social media archiving literature review assignment that I’m doing as part of my induction to this role.
2. Read up on documentation in prep for briefing tomorrow.
3. With whatever time in between browse other teams’ collections because I need that breadth when I start doing reference counter duty.
-
A few meetings today but thankfully nothing all-consuming. Should manage an hour or so of uninterrupted work here and there. Today’s #dp3:
1. Make good progress on one specific appraisal that I’m being chased for. Tricky one because the appraisal submission was poorly done with lots of gaps.
2. I’ve been tasked to do a kind of literature review on social media archiving as part of my induction and while I’m still heavily double-hatting my old role. Get started on this.
3. Admin for event.

My #dp3 is taking a hiatus as I am on parental leave for a bit. #iPRES2025 prep is still on-going and keynote speakers nomination is open now.
https://www.ipres2025.nz/post/keynote-nominations-for-ipres-2025Happy to discuss here too. Keynote really sets the tone of the conference. #iPRES2022 keynote by Steven Gonzalez Monserrate introduced me to #solarpunk and offered an optimistic future, alternative to the dystopian and bleak direction we're seemingly heading towards... I often think about this keynote.

Another really busy day today. In the morning some colleagues in another department are hosting a digital preservation community of interest meeting which I’ll be attending along with folks from other institutions islandwide. Fun. Then I have a working lunch, then a meeting, so… today’s #dp3 is just a #dp2:
1. Browse photo collection for photos to use in an event I’m planning.
2. Chip away at appraisals.
-
Not to jinx myself, but it appears I only have one, short meeting this morning. So today’s #dp3 is the first in two weeks with anything really substantial.
1. Churn through as many appraisals as I can. I really want to avoid having to hand these over, so I want to get them done while I’m double-hating.
2. Check in on colleague who’s supposed to be coming up with an EDM and poll for me. Need this out by tomorrow latest.
3. Browse photo collection to prep for a meeting next week.
-
Another day of back-to-back meetings, leaving not much time for high value-add work. So for today’s #dp3 just more stuff I can do quickly to tick some boxes:
1. Re-arrange my appraisal notes into a sketch of a report that I can clean up another day.
2. Read yet another policy governing new collection I’m managing.
3. Look for that email I was supposed to look for yesterday but didn’t have the chance to.
-
#dp3 today were
1. Co-facilitated a managing born digital collections workshop. Might need to tweak the delivery format to more interactive activities. I feel there's a bit too much one-direction lecture.2. Briefly discussed DPX to 4K ProRes request. Tried doing it on Resolve - kept crashing. Might just have to use ffmpeg. This is for tomorrow.
3. #iPRES2025 prep got moved aside because I was at #NDF25. Need to compile a list of potential paid services for virtual attendee experience.
-
Maybe it’s time to resume my #dp3 posts I guess, now that things are starting to settle down a bit.
Meetings all day today so little chance of getting much else done, but I’m going to aim for the following:
1. Read one policy doc governing new collection I’m managing.
2. Review agency inputs on appraisal (I’m double-chatting for a month) and decide if I have enough for report.
3. Search ERS/mailbox for one email from 6 years ago that’s suddenly important again, for reasons.
-
My #DP3 for today:
1) Review structure for course I'm developing
2) Continue analysis of the pile of DP Strategies on my desk
3) Update the @preservetogether cash flow statement
-
Time to get back to #DP3. Today:
1) Training course brainstorming and research
2) Signing up for mailing lists with new email
3) NDSA staffing survey meeting
-
#dp3 today
1. Raised ICT resourcing discrepancies. In a resource constrained env, I understand the importance to designate what's core and what's common, but why can't #DigiPres be considered core and common?2. Submitted an #iPRES2025 panel proposal on pragmatic digital preservation.
3. Keep working on spreadsheet diff. Essentially a mini ETL process. Power Query made it all so much less frustrating.
-
Most of the morning already gone. Just finished a meeting. Here is today’s #dp3:
1. Figure out agendas for discussions next week regarding handover of various responsibilities.
2. Continue reorganising shared drive. Spend at least 1 focused hour on this.
3. Figure out agendas for two discussions next week regarding two big events I’m organising in August.
-
Insanely busy today so today’s #dp3 I’ve identified three work streams and am listing only the next step for each.
1. Come up with a timeline of activities for a series of events I’m responsible for organising. Lots of moving parts and starting to get away from me.
2. Investigate appraisal I thought was done ages ago but apparently wasn’t. A bug in our tracking system? If genuine, need to try to get this approved before I go.
3. Spend exactly 1 hour reorganising our shared drive.
-
Will be running around a lot today, and the time that I do have available I’ll probably be tired and not really able to focus on anything too long. So today’s #dp3 is just a #dp1 and something important but not especially taxing: continuing to sort through my emails and reorganising our shared drive to make things easier to find, as part of my handover.
-
Today's #dp3 -
1) Two CAT Scan sessions with DPC members to discuss auditing DP skills (one completed already and it was delightful!)
2) Trying to sort out my email inbox so it's not still like a post-apocalyptic wasteland and I can create an archive copy without too much shame.
3) My exit interview ahead of finishing up on Friday.
-
Going to get back on the #DP3 wagon. My plans for today:
1) Finish drafting my handover document
2) Contribute to reviewer guidelines for @ipres2025
3) Catch-up on replies to some of the lovely emails I've received in the last week or so (#digipres people are the best 💕 )
-
Today's done #dp3 are
1. #iPRES2025 Attendee Experience Committee meeting. We're making progress! (Let me know if you're keen to help)
2. Planned a brainstorming session for a proposal for a #iPRES2025 panel discussion on #DigiPres challenges and opportunities in the Asia-Pacific and Australasia region, with a focus on pragmatic digital preservation.
3. Compare two spreadsheets using Excel Power Query. Hoping to build a repeatable workflow. -
Today’s #dp3 will be sparse because I have a meeting in the AM that encroaches on lunch, and I imagine I have a ton of emails to catch up on. These are the most urgent things I need to do as soon as I’m caught up:
1. Follow up on discussion last week about prioritising enhancements for our DPS
2. Rethink how I’ve been prepping my handover. I don’t think it’s working.
3. Draft an email that needs to be cleared and go out 22 April absolute latest, and ideally well before then.
-
No #dp3 this week because I’ve been sick more or less the entire time. What a way to start what is official my final month in this role, which I’ve been in now exactly 8 years and 1 day (yesterday was my anniversary).
-
My #dp3 continue to be #dp1s
This week in Helsinki for the joint eosc EDEN and eosc FIDELIS project kick-off Meeting. Project is off to a great vibe with pronoun stickers 😍 looking forward to 3 days of discussions on how to bring preservation, curation and trustworthy digital repositories s to the European Open Science Cloud. #eosceden #eoscfidelis #eosc -
My #dp3 is a #dp1 today … and is also what gas has been occupying much of my time lately : dress rehearsal for the WGL evaluation of @tibhannover coming up next month. “critical friends” from institutions like DNB, Wiley, @ZBMED , PTB Braunschweig, @SLUBDresden and TH Köln will check how well prepared we are.
-
Today’s #dp3 is only a #dp2 cos I have a big meeting in the PM which will likely drain all of my energy so even the couple of hours after will probably not be very productive.
1. Submit inputs for a req specs document.
2. Draft appraisal report for an appraisal that was submitted for urgent action and fortunately wasn’t too complex (although I feel like… nvm, I won’t jinx myself).
And okay I said this was a #dp2 but I guess even sapped of all energy I could still,
3. Do some elearning.
-
Today’s #dp3 is going to be a #dp2 because I want to commit some time to these. Also I’m still waiting for inputs on a finance thing and I receive that, then that has to jump to priority 1.
1. Work planning for myself and new staff. Turn goals into concrete activities/steps and distribute them between ourselves.
2. Prioritise and document some CRs for a system.
-
My #DP3 for today:
1) Read through the findings section of the mental health and wellbeing report before starting on the conclusion section tomorrow
2) Start putting together my mega content development tracking spreadsheet for the Handbook 3rd edition project
3) Finish some illustrations for a #digipres game from #iPRES2024
-
Busy Friday today. Going to be a bit ambitious and make my #dp3 a #dp4. In order of priority:
1. Review prioritisation of CRs for our DPS which we discussed before to see if it might have changed.
2. Finish up last bit of my contribution to iPRES report.
3. Review target setting doc by staff.
4. Document workflow for legacy ingestions.
-
My #digipres 3 things for the day...
1) Prepare for the #ndsa Levels open office session later today. We are discussing what needs to change in the next revision (if anything!)
2) Continue event planning - mostly trying to get another couple of speakers for our #DPCRAM 'RAM Jam' event on 6th December so I can get that advertised.
3) Attend DP Futures webinar with Libnova and @ntallman https://www.dpconline.org/events/eventdetail/209/-/digital-preservation-futures-webinar-series
-
Is it too late in the day to post my #DP3? I've done some of the things already!
1) Ran an early morning #DPC #ReadingClub on a digital humanities article - some great chats!
2) Catch up on some of the events I'm planning - finalising last speakers and getting the program online.
3) Really really must get head down on some planning for our event on digital preservation policy in Dublin after my hols...coming up fast now!
-

My #dp3 today was more of a #nntw7 three: 1) Trying to get a working group going to tackle #Wang disks (and word processing files), inspired by Leontien Talboom’s talk at nttw. 2) wrote local colleagues who were at #nttw to keep the exchange going, 3) asked our intern to present on her takeaways from #nttw at our next staff meeting

@mickylindlar @beet_keeper @sharonmcmeekin @wzhkevin I like the idea of keeping it short. #3IPs or #DP3 both good. #TIP is a hashtag that seems to be used for other things already.
