For researchers who asked ARC for reviewer scores of their #DiscoveryProjects #DP23 applications:
ARC has told unis – not you, who applied for the info – they're aiming for end of Feb.👇
Yep, just a week before #DP24 apps are due.

📏The font wars have ended📏
↙️Gone are demands for 12 point everywhere, except sometimes, with threats of ineligibility.
↘️Now it's just got to be "readable"(?), with "recommended" font sizes.
Moving in the right direction, @[email protected]👍

Report from @[email protected] for @[email protected] on #DiscoveryProjects announcement last week.
Main issues:
🔹~$40 million less #DP23 funding than last year (=an extra Centre of Excellence funded?)
🔹Vetoed DP22 humanities grants funded.[Free subs required]

Credit where credit's due.
@[email protected] got #DiscoveryProjects #DP23 done in just over 6 months.
Thanks to ARC staff for this. It matters! The earlier these are announced, the better for Australian research & researchers.
Hopefully this is sustainable for ARC staff & processes.

Depressing #discoveryproject #DP23 #grant outcomes announced today for maths — 27 projects funded; only 3 led by women. Not even 12%. These numbers seem to be getting worse. How does anyone think this is acceptable? Most of these teams have no women at all

Incredibly excited to have a #DP23 grant get funded with @dangolding, Benjamin Nicoll, Helen Stuckey, and John Banks.
Our project, “Artistic Practice in Australian Videogame Development” will do what the image says, which is way more articulate than anything I could try to write now.

Number of ARC #DiscoveryProjects funded, & total funding, is lowest in 8 years (at least)👇
No inflation, just pure $. So, even compared to 2018 of ($226m), this year's funding of $221m is lower by 10% in real terms.
#DP23 funding down on last year by 15% (no inflation).

Now in middle of ARC's goal period for #DP23 announcement, "2nd half Nov". But CEO stated in #SenateEstimates that #NITpicks might take 'til "end of month". So, early Dec?
History👇
DP23 started 2.5mo late coz of #DP22 #preprints & security checking stuff-ups -
@darren @sangomahanty Yep. The SAC went according to schedule, which is what ARC based their goal of "second half of November" for #DP23 announcement on. Was always going to be tight. But there has been some additional NIT-picking since the SAC concluded on the 28th Oct. Presumably these are grants boosted above funding line which weren't ranked high enough before SAC (based on draft College scores) to be NIT-picked then.

@sangomahanty Yep. The ARC CEO mentioned in #SenateEstimates that NIT-picking of #DP23 would hopefully be complete by "end of November", which aligns with statements from DMers in the last few weeks. Their stated goal was for an announcement before end of Nov, but it may bleed into early Dec by the sounds of things.
