Hank Mobley Quartet - s/t
Terrific 1955 debut Blue Note session of the 25-year-old Mobley (sax), Horace Silver (piano), Doug Watkins (bass), and Art Blakey (drums)...which may sound familiar, given the Jazz Messengers (which Mobley played with, too).
Old(ish) Music Matters 45 RPM re-release of 25 minutes of mono hard bop, mostly Mobley originals, save for Porter's Love for Sale.

Doug Watkins (2 Mar 1934–5 Feb 1962) was not a flashy bass player – but one of the greats of the modern jazz era. "A Little Bit of Basie" by the Red Garland Trio - with Specs Wright on drums:

Sticking with that smooth #jazz swing & #NowListening to #ByrdInParis by #DonaldByrd with #BobbyJaspar, #WalterDavisJunior, #DougWatkins, & #ArtTaylor - another live offering from the exceptional #SamRecords, based out of Paris.
This is a typically high quality issue - well presented, very well mastered, & impeccably pressed. The performance is really strong - you can really hear the room & the musicianship is top par.
