Douglas Rushkoff's announcement about his new book 'Survival of the Richest' suggests to me that plot of the 1989 Ben Elton scifi novel 'Stark' is rapidly becoming reality. Except Elton couldn't have predicted that all the richlist survivalists made their money from digital tech.

#DouglasRushkoff often mentions elitists prepping for the environmental armageddon. I wonder if he's read a #SciFi novel called 'This Other Eden' (1993), by #BenElton, which satirizes both consumerist corporations and the environmental movement, with a story in which an eco-collapse fallout shelter is marketed so successfully that it's mass production threatens to hasten the eco-collapse, yet not owning one comes to be seen as irresponsibly depending on the public ones.
