  1. Jimmy Carter & Gerald Ford, from rivals to friends

In 1976 Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter ran a heated campaign against incumbent President Gerald Ford. But in a development that seems increasingly foreign to today's partisan environment, the two became friends after Carter himself left the White House.

  2. Today's #WashingtonPost oped repeats a dangerous claim made by #McCarthy & #DouglasBrinkley, presidential historian, in a #WP article yesterday. "But the biggest downside of indicting Trump is the profound line crossed by a sitting president using — or abusing, to many millions of people — the power of the state to arrest and possibly imprison a political opponent." The biggest downside would have been NOT indicting, & Trump, not the sitting president, crossed the line. washingtonpost.com/opinions/20

  4. @wendinoakland @GottaLaff @thehill. #DouglasBrinkley, the presidential historian quoted, knows better. For the life of me, I can't understand why he said this. #McCarthy said the same thing yesterday. It's a talking point that is wrong, dangerous, and incendiary.

  5. @Melody @andrewsalter @Popehat. The presidential historian quoted -- #DouglasBrinkley -- knows better, too. I'm at a loss to understand why he said what he said. This line cracks me up: "Historians contacted for this article struggled to find parallels to the treacherous landscape facing Biden." I wonder if they struggled because the person facing 37 indictments, i.e. a treacherous landscape, is Trump!!!
