The #dotcon can not be fixed, the #fashernistas who keep flocking to new “ethical’ish” ones are a problem not a solution.
The #4opens:
Are a simple way to judge the value of a “alt/grassroots” tech project.
Open data – is the basic part of a project https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_data with out this open they cannot work.
Open source – as in “free software” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_software this keeps development healthy by increasing interconnectedness and bringing in serendipity. The Open licences are the “lock” that keep the first two in place, what we have ain’t perfect but they do expand the area of “trust” that a project needs to work, creative commons is a start here.
Open “industrial” standards – this is a little understand but core open, its what the open internet and WWW are built from. Here is an outline https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_standard
Open process – this is the most “nebulous” part, examples of the work flow would be wikis and activity streams. Projects are built on linking trust networks so open process is the “glue” that binds the links together. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Process

Slow-boil threats to #Fediverse.
One attack seems to involve random people spinning up instances they can't maintain and then they put them on #CAGEMAFIA-servers with reasoning like they can't afford the money to setup things properly, they are under attack, they are ill etc.
Then there are influencer-type accounts, and once they have a lot of followers they simply move them, with their followers to a #dotCon server.
These could legitimately be called #DotConCatFishing.

They seem to be following thought processes similar to what we suggested at one stage. Ie. Do they own too many IP Addresses? Yes? Block.Not a bad metric but IPv6 is setup to issue a psychotic numbers of #IPAddresses though, yes?
How many IPAddresses does Sucuri control?
Did you see the section on building your own list for a #dotcon? Might be useful as an addition. Apparenyly they haven't explored IBM and a couple others yet either.

Interesting. We checked a while back and found that the three initial banks were being #MITMd by #CloudFlare and another #dotcon.
Allegedly, "#bitcoin-accepting" #banks are being targetted. Ie. banks that allowed people to move between bitcoin and #fiat are the ones having their confidence undermined. Apparently #ElizabethWarren is partly involved for an open letter that caused an initial run.
No doubt they will try to capitalise on all this by starting the #CBCD.

What we are saying is CloudFlare, as a USA-based #dotcon that is supposedly helping to combat #cyberattacks, but has in fact been serving somes sites that pirate content. Why might that be?
These websites are often designed to look like Russian websites but would a real Russian really allow their website to be mass surveilled by the worst USA MITM Attack (CloudFlare) the world has seen? We doubt it.

SOLUTION: Operate our own sites from servers of the same dotCon that abused us.

Articles laud a particular team at a #dotCon for finding vulnerabilities in a #modem.
The funny thing is the #vulnerability appears to be in the #firmware and not the modem per se. The firmware is likely #propietary, so this is *not* not the great success story for the dotCon as the #securityTheatre-hungry talking heads may suggest.
Modems will be safer when they are fully #FOSS

That is the latest from their I2P implementation.Re timing of the attack: its likely a response to being integrated into the #bitcoin network. First a #botFarm attack on #dotCon-based #messageBoards in an attemp to have I2Ps page banned. Then other network attacks followed, now zzz and their site is completely disappeared.
While #I2Pd exists and is a good, its targetted to the power user and lacks a native #torrenting client. Though, the last thing zzz did was release a standalone.

Thanks for sharing.Their website (https://peaceAndJusticeNetwork.ca) is pretty safe for TorBrowser, but we would suggest to them to never use #tinyURL.com because it goes through CloudFlare, which allows the #dotCon goliath to track people, or track what might be popular and/or not popular, and allows people to be targetted.

It's looking like #Rumble is being positioned as the next cool, hip #dotCon.
Users seem to think #Rumble has has their back.
When we tell them, its a #surviellanceApparatus that blocks #internetAnonymisers, then it clicks for them, "Oh yeah, they wouldn't let me do XYZ until I gave them my name and contact details".
People are not learning from fairly recent past mistakes, here.

Keep in mind whether you're enabling their #NetworkEffect. Ie. Why would someone want to K'verse if they can coast along on the #dotcon statusQuo, and K'Verse will yield?Btw #criticalMass is 3.5% not 1-in-5. Its perfectly achieveable, if we organise.
Spam is always going to be there. Its part of learning. Also one persons spam is another persons understanding, another's source of 'lols', but always a manifestation of a truth.

There's 3M fedizens. If #Trump can attract 20 million (1/4 of his #dotCon following) we can match that by sharing the magic of #Fediverse with 6-7 people, print a flyer, put em in #pompoms. Start a convo about this (initially) softwareTheft story. It may better position us for convivial future.
