#DoOO finde ich nach wie vor genial, weil sie eine Brücke zwischen Kultur + Technik bildet: "Ich habe einen eigenen Platz im Internet" ist eine andere Art von Beziehung zum Internet.

Die Unis könnten:
* Studierenden anbieten, eine Domain zu registrieren und Abwicklung mit Provider. Kosten aus Studiengebühren
* Lernangebote zur Nutzung
* Einbindung in Uni-Angebote (Blog, Portfolio)

Was beim Austritt aus Uni passiert, ist allerdings unklar...

So I’ll be setting up shop full time over here on Mastodon. I’ve been idly watching the dumpster fire at Twatter from the sidelines, but I think it’s now time to say goodbye.

I’m still tossing up instances and moving/setting up my own. I do wonder if this should be a step in creating a more fully featured Domain Of Ones Own #DOOO. I like the idea of a community space, but there’s a lot of mental overhead in being in that space.

Will you share what you gather? This is a topic that's been on my mind a lot for the past 4 years. Our #DoOO initiative in SUNY grew out of our #OER initiative partly to teach students basic internet literacies and as a place for Open Pedagogy Projects.

@JamesGG @massonpj that’s part of what I do in my role of Open and Online Learning Specialist. We teach students how to set up websites in open source systems, and it really helps to have a close partnership between the library and the technology center. We co-lead our #OER and #DoOO initiatives.

#DoOO admins know that 3/4 of the time pushing back to PHP 7.4 fixes the issue. Not the PHP 7 -> PHP 8 migration we were hoping for.

@mackensen If it was more personal, I would incorporate it into the digital literacy, website building, domain of one's own stuff that I do. I'll teach students how to build a website, and integrate with the fediweb.

But not looking to set up networks that need moderation right now.

@cdbaca They're definitely out there. Micro.blog is a community of diverse people with this practice (admittedly with some technophiles scattered about). You can easily set up an account and pipe a feed of your content into that network and participate from your own site (for free). If you're into education, you'll find people like Maha Bali who are part of the Domain of One's Own #DoOO which is similar to #IndieWeb. Perhaps I'll list some more for #FeedReaderFriday?

Since many in this thread are familiar with the #DoOO space and are on WordPress, I'll mention that I've been tinkering with a few plugins that make my personal website look like a stand alone instance/server of Mastodon where the only user is me.
