  1. CW: Substack, continuing awful

What? The site that platforms transphobia and who failed to be on board with anti-racism is in favour of platforming Nazi propaganda? Because freeze peach and Muh censorship?

I'm shocked. Sho.. Well... not that shocked to be honest. Keep your eye out for people who tolerate abuse of minorities and you'll find the pro-fascists. It's like clockwork.

  2. CW: Don't spread fascist propaganda, Daily Mail "Troll"

If you ask me to provide free content for the Daily Mail, then you're asking me to believe:

    1. The readers can tell they're being trolled.
    2. The staff care about spreading misinformation and would feel bad.

*smh* real "Brer Rabbit into the Briar Patch" material with everyone who will be providing free content for the Daily Mail acting as though they're getting one over and not being trivially manipulated.

    *sigh*

  3. @Bringiton

"Globalist" is a fascist dog whistle for, surprise, surprise, Jews.

I believe this is an attempt at humour.

If I made a "joke" that was so negatively recieved I'd delete it lest people believe I believed it.

This person does not seem a subtle type so I think they're probably well-meaning rather than an actual fascist despite the use of propaganda phrases.

    @Piousunyn

  4. @pzmyers

    Reminds me of Twitter.

Tweet from the worst person I know. That I would never look at.

Being retweeted by "allies" because they want to dunk on him.

Thus spreading fascist propaganda into fedispaces. That I then have pushed into my stream.

Yes, I know that's not your intention. Yes, I know you didn't mean any harm.

But this is literally what CW are for.

Obscure the photo, put a CW on your post if you're gonna dunk. Then I get a choice. Up to you

  5. @thisismissem @kevinrns

Consider: if propaganda was not effective, it would not get used.

Therefore propaganda is effective even if you don't think so personally.

Therefore showing it to others exposes them to propaganda and, even if you tell them it's propaganda, it's still potentially effective.

So think before spread... I mean "dunking" on it.

By all means! Trans people would like your help but

    #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda

  6. @bydesign

    You misunderstand.

The people sharing the transphobic information do not consider themselves transphobic. Their motives are mostly good.

However they are sharing the propaganda and 1. Trans people do not want to look at that shit unexpectedly.

    2. Don't spread propaganda. It is effective and it works. That's why it gets used.

    Hope that helps!

  7. @Anitambyrne

The #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda hash helps remind me that by repeating their memes I am making the information more visible to others. Propaganda is demonstrated to work and no one is always immune.

Plus elsewhere, having "allies" repost it to argue with others filled my view with horror and increased their engagement.

They don't respect the contract of tolerance and thus cannot be tolerated.

  8. @tsalmoth

    I feel that #JKRowlingTerf and #WhiteSupremacy #AntiSemitism and #HogwartsLegacy aren't being called out.

She wrote trash books at the right time and now despite months of warning is getting great sales on a game mainstreaming the blood libel.

She's a danger and people shouldn't play the game because #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda never goes out of fashion.

  12. Doesn't even touch on the repetition of "slavery is good" and "blood libel" which are essential to the game.

I've said what I've said, and I'm done engaging with fallacious argument on the subject.

  13. @wjmaggos

    It's the pro bigotry stance.

    1. The plot of the game is "slavery is good actually".

    2. The reason for one is because the elves are portrayed as child killing monsters.

    3. The royalties from this game directly fund JKGB.

It is waddaboutism of to bring in state.gov/defining-antisemitis
Which points out that Israel gets criticised in ways other counties don't.

  14. @ajvizz

Sure, you're enriching the most prominent anti trans campaigner in the world AND you get to support and spread the blood libel myth against Jews.

I'm blocking this person because I'm not here to debate bigots.

  15. @alaric @hacks4pancakes @georgelakoff
    "Staying and fighting" means:

    1. Giving Twitter a veneer of respectable conversation. After all "there's debate so both sides" etc etc.

    2. Giving attendance and engagement metrics to the marketing dept. helping justify ad spend there.

    3. Provide entertainment for the fash and fash adjacent bigots there. They don't take you seriously and think you responding _at all_ is a win.

    @sabogato @SallyStrange

Amen. Too many people are happy spreading fascist propaganda and platforming hate.

Nice! That's some quality experimental work.

I'll put it along with asking people to explain why their bigoted joke is funny as a useful tool.

The evidence is that QT can be negative, but there's nuance. Different perspectives.

    This thread for said evidence.
    wandering.shop/@Quinnae_Moon/1

I think it depends who you are. For trans people QT ain't great. Used to spread fascist agitprop past our blocks.

For black people, essential to receipts and proof it occurs.

I'd be all in favour of QT if #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda wasn't a social problem.

  19. As these time stamps demonstrate.

Maybe you should check out the hashtags from my OP? I reckon that's pretty simple. And you're not someone who investigates and reports the news.

The _sole_ problem is character limit. Not bad for a feature that doesn't exist.

Also: #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda :) read that one first.

    mastodon.ie/@Homebrewandhackin
Homebrewandhacking - It was really easy.

    mastodon.ie/@Homebrewandhackin
Homebrewandhacking - Actually it wasn't user unfriendly at all.

  20. @Feders_dub I also would really like it if people didn't screenshot fascist propaganda and post it to "dunk" on it.

    1. It bypasses my blocks.
    2. Propaganda works. We're not immune.
    3. The fascists know the above. That's why they post stupid things like "there are no pronouns in the Bible". It's an "easy dunk." And bingo you've given your audience to the #HateGrifters

(For the purposes of this post we can treat Nazis, TERFs, racists, homophobes as fascists.)

    #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda

  21. @erinfulmer exactly.

All the "dunks" on their propaganda?

Didn't embarrass them. Spread their propaganda. Of course they know what a pronoun is. They're just amusing themselves by getting "allies" to QT and RT and give them publicity that money can NOT buy to get past the blocks and hurt their targets and spread their word. #HateGrifters relied on and reveled in it! Openly saying so!

    #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda

  22. @iyalei Thankyou so much for this thread! Thought I was going crazy with all the "oh no QTs never do any harm" rhetoric flying around.

It's spreading hate on behalf of the fash! Does my nut! And the "allies"! Gah! I've blocked the bigots, why are you screenshotting and showing me there stuff?!?

  23. @futurebird My lived experience is that QT are used for fascist propaganda. Allies "dunking" or "calling out" led to the _repeatedly seen effect_ of spreading fascist propaganda. The #HateGrifters knew about it and used it, again and again and again.

QT, _as used on Twitter_, will be excellent news for fascists. Different restrictions? Maybe good.

    I cannot support this campaign.

  24. @godpod

#DontSpreadFascistPropaganda Not even to dunk on it. Or at least content warn it.

Up to you of course. But propaganda _works_ and people _aren't_ immune.

  25. @Tupp_ed Some people use them well.

But I frequently saw them being used to weaponise engagement. E.g. someone posts something horrid and then my feed is FULL of people QTing it.

So I got exposed to a LOT of Fascist propaganda. Some of it was extremely insidious because its dishonest and uses half truths and distortion to make itself seem real. Stonetoss used to be the go to before his style was rumbled but the sinfest gut was catching up.

  26. CW: Twitter as a town square

    @ZeroCovidColin

Yes. That's why #ContentWarning are so important, and why we #DontSpreadHate #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda #DontSpreadNaziPropaganda

Because these tweets with the thousand likes? Usually 4Chan crafted images designed for maximum provocation and got round blocks because "Allies" as opposed to #Allies were retweeting it. Bloody nightmare.

  27. @schwa You might enjoy the #HateGrifters and #DontSpreadFascistPropaganda tags because whilst many (white male) parts of twitter didn't have constant hate directed at them those that did are familiar with, the dogpiles and the Hate grifters who used and weaponised the feature to get the sort of engagement money literally cannot buy. Enriching the haters, hurting their targets and making it a hostile space with the constant discussion by "allies".

    #MastodonIsBoring but safe.
