Ok, I gave this a go last night. I like the first 8 bars of the Drummond solo. Not sure about the last 4. Damn I can hear the fatigue in my chops. This was late in my practice session, and my practice schedule has lately not been as consistent as it needs to be.

I had kind of the concept of an idea rolling around my head for the last few hours. I don't have access to my instrument, so here's a poorly-edited hack job; mainly for myself so I don't forget it.
My hypothesis is that it would be cool to hack together a few phrases from "Cool Smoke" (an 8-bar form) so it would work over a 12-bar blues.
I think it would be nice to have a little Don D. to whip out in a solo over something like Tenor Madness or any blues in Bb. #ska #dondrummond -
This tune has been on heavy rotation in my house/car/head lately. I think I'm going to try to learn / transcribe this.
Maybe I'll post some of this process here, in case it's interesting to anyone.
