So-called investor's judgement may have been clouded by current craze for Anguillan domains

  3. A thought for domain investors:

    Buy → list → wait

is a listing process, not necessarily a sales process.

    Selling can also mean:

    Position → Research → Target → Campaign → Track → Follow up

A marketplace gives a domain somewhere to be purchased.

Marketing gives the right buyer a reason to discover it.

How do you approach the part after listing?

  4. A simple domain-name test I find useful:

Say the name aloud without showing the spelling.

    Could someone type it correctly?

    Would they remember it tomorrow?

Does it still make sense if the business grows well beyond its original idea?

Domain metrics can tell you plenty.

Human memory tells you something different.

What do you look for first?

  5. I think short domains sometimes get more credit than they deserve.

A five-letter name may look neat, but that does not help if people cannot spell it after hearing it once.

A longer .com can be stronger when it is clear, memorable and easy to type.

    Short helps. Clarity matters more.

    Which would you choose?

  6. Orchestra.ai was reportedly sold for $250,000 through Afternic.

NameBio recorded OrchestraAI.com selling for $1,026 through Namecheap in April.

These were separate transactions, so the prices are not a direct valuation comparison. Still, the contrast shows how an extension can change the structure of a brand.

I usually prefer .com, but Orchestra.ai feels cleaner because .ai completes the name.

Which version works better for you?

  7. Bouncy.com reportedly sold for $125,000, after selling for $36,000 in April 2023.

According to seller Leo Angelo, the latest buyer typed Bouncy.com directly into their browser and found the sales page.

The price increase is impressive, but the way the buyer found it is more interesting. A strong name can already be in the buyer’s head. The landing page simply needs to make contact easy.

  8. Thundr.com sold for $100,000 via Saw.com.

Normally, dropping a vowel makes me hesitate. The word is recognised immediately, but people may type Thunder.com first.

The domain now leads to a video chat app called Thundr.

For most buyers, it has a spelling risk. For that business, it is the exact-match .com.

The right buyer changes the value.

  9. Why.com launched in 1999 as a guide to the web. The company later went quiet. In 2026, the domain returned as an AI curiosity engine.

The internet and the business changed completely, but the name still works.

A strong domain can outlive its first idea.

  10. One thing I am learning from domain investing: clever does not always mean sellable.

If a domain needs a long explanation before someone understands its value, the buyer may never see what you saw in it.

Easy to say, understand and remember matters more.

    Clarity usually beats cleverness.

  11. H2.com sold for $240,000, while School.ai sold for $105,000.

H2.com offers scarcity: two characters and .com.

School.ai offers clarity: the name explains the category immediately.

Two different kinds of value. Which would you rather own?

Both sales were brokered by Mark Ghoriafi at Sedo and reported by DNJournal:
